"Shoelace" - Shoes Untied?

Submitted by pz on
I haven't seen this anywhere else, but did anyone else notice in the freep gallery from the first day of practice that Denard's shoe laces appear to be untied in the picture of him? Could this be where the nickname came from? Does anyone have any insight into this? Looks like despite not wearing pads the first day of practice, everyone else had their shoes tied. Weird.

RichRod was on WTKA this morning and talked about it. He said that Denard laces his shoes up in such a way that he never actually ties the laces, and always has done it that way. RObinson's shoes apparently dont come off his feet and God knows it doesn't hurt his speed. You probably can getthe full explanation on the www.wtka.com and click on today's podcast.

I read so much that I'm not sure where I read this. But yes, that is where he got his nickname. In one of the profiles on Denard (maybe a local paper), it mentioned that in middle school he still couldn't (wouldn't?) tie his shoelaces. The nickname stuck. My thought when I read it was 'he couldn't tie his shoelaces in middle school?'
