Semi OT: Tim Hardaway, Jr. Clownin'

Submitted by VCavman24 on

Just a little humor for your Wednesday.  I didn't see this mentioned before so I figured I would share.  After the NBA Rising Stars game, Andre Drummond was awarded the BBVA Compass MVP award.  However, the presenter dropped the trophy, leading to a wonderful line by our very own, Tim Hardaway, Jr.  The funny part is at 0:25.

Love seeing Hardaway and Burke excel in their careers. Hopefully Nik, Glenn, Mitch, and mayb even Caris join them soon

But he's still 2 years away. Right now he's so unorthodox and lanky that it works for him. In the NBA, even though everyone is soft and they don't play defense...someone is going to put him on his ass. He gets away with it now because he can take those long steps and huge hop steps into the lane...but that doesn't work in the NBA, you have to go a lot stronger. James Harden and Manu are two players who get away with that unorthodox style but they're both still in a lot more control than LeVert is. However, they're also NBA basketball players and All-Stars. So LeVert has time. I said this during the MSU game when LeVert went baseline one time and instead of trying to dunk, he did this sweet up and and under...got foul and missed. You may remember because Stauskas hugged him and smiled as they walked back towards halfcourt. In 2 years, LeVert dunks that for an And-1. His progression is going to be through the roof. I just hope Nik comes back ONE more year to assist because LeVert isn't ready to be the lead guy just yet. By his senior year, he will be a true #1 option rather than a guy who does a great job benefiting from attention given to other players on the floor. I'm praying that they ALL come back next year to go for a national championship like Florida and UNC have had guys do. Then I see a mass exodus with only LeVert, Irvin and Walton staying behind...then I see those guys leaving (which will also be Spike's last year).

I don't see how you can be so sure he needs 2 years.  He clearly knows how to put in the work after putting on 20 lbs last summer and I bet he does something similar again.  Everyone thought Stauskas was 2 years away last year and LeVert has better numbers this year than THJ did his last year.  Enjoy LeVert while you can, because he's probably a first round pick next year.

and even at age 33, he is still less than 200 lb. Crawford was a 19 year old when he arrived AA, roughly the same age as Levert now, but Jamal's game was more mature at the time, and was a much more a determined scorer than Levert. However, if Levert continues his progress at the current trajactory, gaining more strength and confidence, he could well be the focus of our offense next year, and likely mid first round in 2015 draft. I think Nik leaves after this year, and GRIII and McGary leave at 2015.
