relevant because of our near-miss on ID speedster Gatlin Bair. Hopefully we can shake him free after this!

Kinda surprising since Boise has been such a stable program for so long, but also understandable because they have been not good this year.
Hopefully communication with Bair remains open.

It's still a pretty stable program, but the locals have unrealistic expectations.
In the World of NIL, schools such as BSU simply cannot compete.

I always thought Bair's commitment was just to appease the locals. He has two years before he starts college anyway, so that's a long time off, but this bodes well.

While true a WR is needed for this class, remember Gatlin Bair is likely going on a 2 year mission.

I beleive that I read Michigan has continued to remain in contact even after Blair's commitment to Boise.
So we'll see... long way to go with his LDS mission coming up...similarly to Gentry who changed is commitment following the completion of his mission.

Wth is up with Gentry? Does he play at all?
November 12th, 2023 at 2:41 PM ^
What do you mean, wth?
He's a sophomore who had two years off who is on the Two time Moore winners that returned most of the starters. He was never expected to be playing a lot yet. He has played in like 7 games though, so he clearly is well regarded by staff and will probably play a big role the next few years
November 12th, 2023 at 2:56 PM ^
Yes, he plays. He's also basically a RS Freshman. What is up with you? Do you follow our team?
November 12th, 2023 at 3:47 PM ^
Hasn't Brian/Seth said they project Gentry to be the LT of the future?
November 12th, 2023 at 4:11 PM ^
I’ve seen Gentry on special teams this year and on the offensive line late in games.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:06 AM ^
Gentry only changed his commitment because his chosen school's head coach left. It was also well-publicized how unusual and special it was that Gentry had any contact with the outside world at all during his mission. It's not a normal two-year recruiting period.

Maybe Michigan State can hire him! He might be the only coach that will go there. Might be a step down, however.
November 12th, 2023 at 2:29 PM ^
If he chose Boise over Michigan, in the middle of the kind of season Michigan is having, then I’m not sure having him come here is really in the cards no matter how it all plays out.
Seems like he just wants to stay close to home.

I think you underestimate the relationships these guys build with coaching staffs.
If that staff is gone, that could be a deal breaker...if that is something that was important to him.
It also doesn't matter, he's a 2026 recruit.
November 12th, 2023 at 3:25 PM ^
He committed to Boise on Aug 5th, so before the season.
November 12th, 2023 at 2:40 PM ^
Are schools dumping HCs earlier now so as to get a jump on hiring people and or saving recruiting classes?
November 12th, 2023 at 3:50 PM ^
A bit of both but mostly recruiting. You gotta get the next guy in to build that relationship before December.
The market for coaches is going to be crazy so some are probably getting a head start, too.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:08 AM ^
The early signing period is responsible for this. I wish they'd get rid of it entirely so the season can be the season, and then we can have coaching carousel afterwards.

Interesting availability. It won't happen but I can't imagine anywhere funnier for Jimbo to be coaching
November 12th, 2023 at 5:18 PM ^
MSU pulled an A&M with Mel, I give MSU more than a non-zero chance of replicating that situation.
However, if I’m Jimbo and I have $75 million guaranteed as a buyout I’m going to the beach and counting my blessings.

Someone mentioned BSU as a program who could be looking to hire one of our assistant coaches. Mountain West is a good starting point for a first-time D1 coach.

You shut your whore mouth.
November 12th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
Come on down, Gatlin!
November 12th, 2023 at 4:31 PM ^
I'm thinking that Iowa is first in line to bring him on

I wonder if Harsin comes back
