If the B1G would've taken Mizzou and Louisville
December 7th, 2013 at 6:42 PM ^
Lousiville was never going to happen and lets see how good they are without Strong, Bridgewater, and the Big East.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:45 PM ^
What happened to Strong? Did I miss something?
December 7th, 2013 at 6:50 PM ^
He isn't long for Louisville. Whether its the NFL or very like Florida he's headed for a bigger job.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:46 PM ^
They have arguably the best AD in the country, they'll be fine without Strong and co.
That said, I agree, they were never an option.
And of course it's not about competitive excellence, it's about TV markets.
I'm just tired of watching how awesome the SEC is and how BAD the B1G is.
I want to have conference pride again and brag about how dominant we are. Even if Michigan returns to glory, the conference is still pretty awful right now.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:51 PM ^
Best AD in the country? I think Strong has a lot more to do with the success at Louisville than the AD does.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:54 PM ^
Strong won a basketball national championship?
Look at their other sports like soccer, field hockey, baseball, etc.
They're a strong athletics department. Tom Jurich is widely considered one of the best with Jeremy Foley at Florida and the guy that just went to Texas. Hollis at MSU is always in the mix as well.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
Mizzou bet UCLA in basketball today.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:41 PM ^
NCAA - "Don't bet on it"
December 7th, 2013 at 6:47 PM ^
So true. They also scored more points than UCLA.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:41 PM ^
I'd take Pitt over Louisville but ya Mizzu would have been nice.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:49 PM ^
I would've been fine with Mizzou and Maryland though...
That said, we need to get better before we worry about anything else. Auburn, Mizzou, Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M all could've easily won the B1G this year. Not saying they would, but it's not a far fetched thought.
That's 5 elite teams when UF, UGA, and UT are all down. I didn't even mention S. Carolina.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:55 PM ^
Have you seen Tex A&M play D? They would not have easily won the Big10 or any major conference. LSU was terribly inconsistent all year and almost capped it off by losing to Arkansas.
The Vegas sports books, who usually know a thing or two, would have OSU favoured over all those teams except for Bama.
So saying those teams could have easily won the Big10 is just wrong and quite frankly a joke. The Big10 is down yes, but I'll take the opinion of the guys of Vegas over yours any day and so would most people.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
I said it wouldn't surprise me.
Also, you can go through an entire regular season and not play OSU or MSU.
Texas A&M could beat either of those teams in a B1G championship game...not saying they would, but it's not even a stretch.
I hate saying it, but in the SEC you can miss teams, but you can't miss everyone.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:02 PM ^
Missouri basically played A&M and S.Carolina. Both at home. The SEC and the ACC as well really needs to go to a 9 game schedule. With 14 teams 8 simply isn't enough.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:07 PM ^
Even without playing the toughest conference schedule, are we really going to argue about which conference is deeper or tougher?
December 7th, 2013 at 6:49 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 6:52 PM ^
It's going to have to happen in 2015 or I don't see it happening under Hoke.
That said, I have faith. As long as we can improve and develop the guys we have and hold on to these recruiting classes.
Watching Green-Beckham makes me think about George Campbell.
Watching the RBs make me think about Harris with Green and Smith.
2015 we'll have upperclassmen who were highly touted, we'll have depth and we'll have a favorable schedule.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:58 PM ^
Yes watching Green-Beckham definitely gives me hope with Harris and Campbell coming in.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
OSU, MSU, and ND all lose a lot of talent. Golson will have a year's rust to shake off and ND loses most of their defense and offensive line, MSU loses 7 of their 11 defenders(and perhaps Narduzzi) and most of their offensive line, and OSU loses most of their OL, secondary, and Hyde. Smith could leave as well.
The challenge for next year lies with the team itself. If they make dramatic improvements on both lines and Gardner matures UM can win 10-11 games. The talent is there.
However, this is a gigantic "if".
December 7th, 2013 at 7:04 PM ^
Winning 10-11 games doesn't make you elite.
I certainly think what you've said is doable. In fact, I think it's the expectation.
But it's not this elite champinship level that we're salivating over. I am looking for us to be dominant. Top 5, Top 3.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:04 PM ^
They have plenty of size and speed themselves. Between these two and Butt and Funchess Gardner should put up great numbers next year.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:55 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 7:08 PM ^
It's the truth.
Our special teams haven't been explosive since Breaston was at Michigan.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:16 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 6:55 PM ^
I've seen you do that alot in this thread...
December 7th, 2013 at 7:00 PM ^
require a message.

December 7th, 2013 at 6:52 PM ^
Auburn's kicker has sissy looking pants.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:56 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 6:56 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 6:57 PM ^
Uh? I think he said no 1 loss SEC team should leap ahead of OSU if they win.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:57 PM ^
Case McCoy, but a shadow of his brother, tosses the INT that sets up Baylor's TD.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:58 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
was that they flagged Baylor for showboating, taking away the pick 6. The only thing the guy did was slow down and break his stride, a very little bit. AWFUL CALL. Fortunately Baylor scored on their first offensive play.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:03 PM ^
But understandable in the context that the University of Texas and the Longhorn network is the B12.
December 7th, 2013 at 6:58 PM ^
I think the winner of the SEC should just get an auto-bid to play in the MNC and the runner up in the SEC should probably also get an autobid too. Matter of fact, next year when college football starts their four team playoff I think the 3rd & 4th place teams in the SEC should also probably round out the quartet.
Cause the SEC is like the best conference EVER.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:03 PM ^
....and all the other SEC teams (even without 6 wins) should get major bowls too.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:13 PM ^
You can stop. Danielson has the color job for CBS wrapped up.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:00 PM ^
34-31...great game thus far.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:00 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 7:05 PM ^
As long as it isn't Auburn. Another last second game winning score would be played forever.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:06 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 7:00 PM ^
So if things stay as they are:
FSU OSU
Stanford/ASU MSU
Bama Clemson
Auburn/Missouri OK
Baylor UCF
December 7th, 2013 at 7:15 PM ^
I haven't given up on Auburn jumping Ohio if they can rip this one open.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:01 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 7:04 PM ^
If Missouri were to squeak by Auburn and OSU goes down how much of a push would Bama get to pass Missouri?
December 7th, 2013 at 7:17 PM ^
My guess is Bama jumps them. Bama is in the title game if two of these three lose - Ohio, FSU, Auburn.
