Scout header - we lead with Witty?

Submitted by Promote RichRod on
I can't read the substantive post, but the header makes this pretty obvious. This has to bode well for Denard recruitment, right? They are more or less a package deal, no?

I'm going to laugh when we only get Witty. And then I'll go cry because our QB depth chart next year will be: Forcier OR Threet Sheridan Furrha Manny Harris CONER!

I agree it would be a disappointment to not land Denard, but I think we get caught up on star rankings too much. Witty at least has the physical tools to be a solid player. He's 5'11'' 180lbs and ran a 4.35 40 before his injury (article linked below). I dont think we should get too down on him when he has everything that would make you believe he could develop into a solid player. Especially if you compare his measurables to potential defensive contributors this year, (Per Rivals- Michael Williams 5'10'' 181lbs. 4.67 40, JT Floyd 6'0'' 180lbs 4.74 40, Troy Wolfork 5'11'' 176 4.5 40). In fact, he probably has a higher ceiling. I'm not saying he's destined for greatness, but at least he has some tools to become anywhere from Sears Jr. to Englemon to something more. Good programs can turn kids with potential and low ratings into excellent players. Blake Gideon was a 2 star true freshman starter for the Texas Longhorns this year. Of OSU's 5 defensive backs, 2 were 2 stars and 2 were 3 stars. So on and So on http://miamiherald.typepad.com/hssports/2008/08/adrian-whitty-o.html

Um, they're only a package deal if Robinson decides to allow Witty's extremely limited offer list (us, Florida International, Kansas State) determine where he's going to school.

Football is not played in a straight line. 40 speeds mean absolutely squat unless you have an o line that can open up holes larger than Pam Anderson's coont.
