I'm going to laugh when we only get Witty. And then I'll go cry because our QB depth chart next year will be:
Forcier OR Threet
Sheridan
Furrha
Manny Harris
CONER!

Not for nothing but I'll throw Kelvin Grady in there too. That little guy is fast!

Sadly, you're probably right about us only landing Witty, not that I have any information to suggest otherwise. That's just our luck.

Wow, what a downer.
I don't think we have bad luck at all. Our recruiting classes have been pretty awesome. Even with all the decommitments this year, we have the #8 class in the country.

I agree it would be a disappointment to not land Denard, but I think we get caught up on star rankings too much. Witty at least has the physical tools to be a solid player. He's 5'11'' 180lbs and ran a 4.35 40 before his injury (article linked below). I dont think we should get too down on him when he has everything that would make you believe he could develop into a solid player. Especially if you compare his measurables to potential defensive contributors this year, (Per Rivals- Michael Williams 5'10'' 181lbs. 4.67 40, JT Floyd 6'0'' 180lbs 4.74 40, Troy Wolfork 5'11'' 176 4.5 40). In fact, he probably has a higher ceiling. I'm not saying he's destined for greatness, but at least he has some tools to become anywhere from Sears Jr. to Englemon to something more. Good programs can turn kids with potential and low ratings into excellent players. Blake Gideon was a 2 star true freshman starter for the Texas Longhorns this year. Of OSU's 5 defensive backs, 2 were 2 stars and 2 were 3 stars. So on and So on

In regards to Wolfolk and straight-ahead speed measurables, I'll take intercollegiate track 60 m times over made-up high school forty times.

I agree they're all mostly exaggerated, but thats kind of my point. We all latch on to these kids arbitrarily. Obviously some deserve their high rankings, but I don't think we should throw equate lower ranked kids to suck.

Oh and I'd rather have a Florida 6A all-stater as a jr. than an intercollegiate track runner. My friend at GVSU ran a faster 60m and blew at football :-)

Um, they're only a package deal if Robinson decides to allow Witty's extremely limited offer list (us, Florida International, Kansas State) determine where he's going to school.

They are really tight and are pretty set on going to the same place if possible, right? If so, and if Witty is super high on M, maybe he could be our best recruiter...

Football is not played in a straight line. 40 speeds mean absolutely squat unless you have an o line that can open up holes larger than Pam Anderson's coont.
