Mount St. Mary's hired a private equity CEO to be their president. You'll never guess what happened next.
Scout: C. Jones (as WR) #15 in final S.Carolina state rankings
C.Jones listed at CB.. but man a 6-3 185# corner would just be sick
A true freshman with 6 KR TDs this season would also be neat. Just sayin.
I tell you what, I'd settle for 6-1 202 and the ability to leap tall buildings any day.
Of course going into next year, wondering who will step up in the defensive backfield, I'll settle for anyone who can cover a receiver and know how to take proper pursuit angles.
Yeah if he has the cover skills needed to be a corner in college it would be great to see someone who is 6-3 lining up on some of the taller receivers that have to often burned our shorter corners. What ever position he does play I wish him the best.
"All Name Team" behind..
1) Kegan Funderburk
2) Mustafa Greene
3) Conelius Jones
I just think it's awesome that there will be another C-O-N-E of some type on the roster.
RR says screw Scout and Rivals star system .. screw whatever position the kids played in HS .. just give me Athletes who have a good frame for my buddy Barwis to build muscle on and we will put these athletes all over the field and i will demand execution ...
Have you ever worked with a person who can see how a project looks when finished before they ever start it ? ... like in construction or any type of digging machine work ... well i can see the finished project of what RR is doing here and i like it alot.
If things work out and RR is here for a long time i think this will be a program that Red-shirts alot of its Freshman .. but with the circumstances RR walked into he was not able to do that .. but with the last few classes and this class being a big one the day is getting close when we can Red-Shirt our freshman.
That's impressive that you can see the finished project that Rodriguez is trying to put together. You must feel like your visions are a gift from God or something.
Anyway, this is why we need to keep recruiting quarterbacks. I've seen a few people on this board say that we're stacked at QB, and that's simply not true. Basically, everyone but Michigan sees Jones as a wide receiver or a safety. Meanwhile, Denard is headed to a different position sooner or later. We basically have two "true" quarterbacks for 2010's roster. We need to get at least one more QB in 2011, which would give Rodriguez the freedom to move Denard or Jones to a position that's more likely to suit their skills.
FWIW, Jones played WR in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas (I think that's what it's called) and apparently he was electric after the catch. Perhaps that's why Scout ranked him as a WR.
"FWIW, Jones played WR in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas (I think that's what it's called) and apparently he was electric after the catch. Perhaps that's why Scout ranked him as a WR."
That assessment must have come from practice, because he didn't have any catches during the game.
Yes, it was an end-of-the-week practice report that talked about Jones' skills.
Yeah, I remember seeing that discussed. I was thinking about that after I posted my prior comment and before I had a chance to get back here and mention it. There was a writeup in our local paper here about him moving to WR for that game and that he was having success.
That's the one thing I really like about this kid: he's incredibly versatile. I think he would have had an incredibly different recruiting path had he been ranked by the services as an athlete instead of a QB from the outset. ESPN and Scout have him listed as an athlete now, but I'm pretty sure that's a recent update.
is now also listing him as an ATH, and that is a recent development as well
My bad, Rivals has him listed as an athlete, Scout has him listed as a QB. I got them backward. Thanks for catching that!
