SB vs Indiana Open Thread
The SB Team is hosting Indiana today for 2 games. Tomorrow's game is being pulled ahead because the weather tomorrow does not look good.
We took the Hoosiers to the wood shed yesterday with a 10-run 2nd inning. This was enroute to a 11-2 Mercy-Rule win.
Haylie is in the circle for game 1. We are batting in the bottom of the 2nd in a scoreless game.
Anyone hoping to listen to either of these two games with Michigan's student radio coverage can do so here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsenBIV2eGc
now 3-0 us.
Do you know if the RPI takes into account anything like semi-road games and semi-home games (a distinction KenPom makes, for example)? Or does it follow the same formula as basketball, which is a simple 25% record, 50% opponents' records, and 25% opponents' opponents' records?
While the game UM played against ASU in California is noted as a neutral site game, I think many would agree that is closer to a home game for ASU than a neutral game, due to the time zone change and proximity to ASU's home campus vs. Ann Arbor. I think there's a pretty significant difference between, say, the neutral site game that was in California between UF and UM, and the one referred to above.
I have no idea, but it's worth noting that Michigan is likely to have more fans at just about any neutral site game against anyone (outside of the WCWS). There were far more Michgan fans than ASU fans at that California game.

I'm not sure about the rpi formula, but michigan plays the most difficult road schedule in the country and it proves well when regionals come into play
Game 2 to start shortly.
Great pitching by Haylie Wagner, no runs allowed. Too bad she doesn't get the change to start more games.
Maybe if Betsa wasn't pitching so well she would get the chance. Numbers don't lie - 26.2 more innings, lower ERA, lower opposing batting average, same amount of runs given up, less earned runs given up.
Regardless, I agree about her game yesterday. Great performance, she jammed a ton of batters and got good defensive support, especially from Monte at third.
Good win. Do it again shortly.
circle. Taylor Swearingen is the DP in the #8 slot.
with a HR in the 1st.
still 1-0 us.
Minny took it to MSU 7-1. Nebraska is at NW in a 0-0 tie in the 3rd.
If the Nebraska - Northwestern game is scoreless, that would make it a N-0 0-N game or a N-0 N-0 game.
the Big Ten in BA at .486. #2 is Megan Blank (Iowa) at .440. Kelly Christner leads in HR with 17. #2 is Nicole Evans (ILL) has 16 and #3 Romo has 15.
in On base % with a whopping .660. The #2 player is Nikki Stokes (NEB) at .548. That is a full .100 points between the leader and the #2 player. Amazing.......
for a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd.
Indiana gets a based loaded single to score one but nothing more. Its now 2-1 us.
BIG TIME
3 RUN BOMB
for these updates. Making my Anchor Saison go down smoothly.
it was a fun listen today.
with the bases loaded and Swearengen scores. Then Kelly forces a 3-2 walk for another run. Now 7-2 us.
We play MSU on Tuesday and CMU on Wednesday, both at home. Next weekend we travel to Maryland for 3.
Weekend seep!
How has no one mentioned Kelly Christner's diving catch in the second game? Probably the most athletic softball play I've seen since I started following the team. http://www.snappytv.com/tc/557582
Hell of a play.
Even better camera work showing the second out to complete the double play.
