Outside of rooting for the Hogs and Cougars to take down Tenessee and Wichita St to help solidify our #3 seed, might want to keep an eye on them as potential #6 seeds and potential 2nd round opponents.

Know I am jumping the gun and making a lot of assumptions.  But I am getting a little weary after a week of threads/discussions around our seeding (not to mention the trainwreck Bachelor thread) and why we deserve a #3 position.  Ready to get on with it, get the brackets set, and talk about our team and opponents.

Fun games over next two days - but I am ready to watch the only team that matters play again as soon as possible.  Go Blue!

BTN’s Journey summarizing the B1G tournament -fantastic TV. it is not getting old, and this week off has been a wonderful extended celebration as opposed to last year where we got a ridiculous punishment by the committee 20 minutes after winning it.

Their resume is considerably better and then you have to factor in the H2H matchup. Now, if you're saying you want both Michigan and UNC to be 3s so UNC can't be the 2 in the same region, I can definitely see the merit in that.

If Michigan can end up the 3 to Cincy's 2 I would be ecstatic. The 3 to UNC or Duke's 2 and I would be considerably less enthused.

Something to note, if Purdue is pretty solidified as a 2 then the only way Michigan can be in their region is if M ends up a 4 since a 3-2 matchup would occur in the sweet sixteen and due to their three games already they couldn't meet before the elite eight.

They may choose to avoid it if they can do so without moving anyone off of their true seed line. However, it's no longer a hard-and-fast rule like it used to be.  Teams that only met once in conference play can meet again as early as the second round.  Teams that met twice can meet in the Sweet 16 -- Michigan could be a 3 in the same bracket as MSU's 2.  Teams that met thrice can't meet until the Elite 8.

They changed this when teams started getting more than 8 into the tournament and unbalanced schedules made the idea of "conferences" basically a bad joke.

Don't we want them to win to prevent MSU from getting a 2? NC-Duke-Purdue are 'locks' on the 2 line,if Cincy falls it would be MSU moving up to 2 not Mich.

I think we want Cincy to win the American. This is how I see it.
#1's - Virginia, Villanova, Kansas, Xavier (since Duke lost probably)
#2's - UNC, Duke, Purdue, Cincy/Msu
#3's - Cincy/Msu, UM, 2 of Tennessee/Auburn/Zona

If Cincy loses, we basically will have to matchup against Duke/UNC. If Cincy is a 2, we got a shot at them, Duke, or UNC. Not sure about you guys, but I want Cincy and meet them at 2 over Duke/UNC.

The bracket matrix is basically a bunch of people trying to interpret past committee decisions in order to predict what it will do this year.

If the committee is really serious about changing the way they do things this year, then I'd say Michigan has a chance to pass MSU.  Even if they're not that serious and decide just to use RPI, Michigan still has a chance to pass MSU.  But if they do things the way they've done them in the past -- which I expect -- MSU's relative lack of good wins will be offset by their complete lack of bad losses.

Having said that, I don't care what seed MSU gets.  I don't care if it's higher than Michigan's seed or not.  I'm focused on Michigan, not MSU.  This isn't RCMB. ;)

No it's not. It has purely algorithmic brackets in there. There is also still uncertainty for each. So being one spot ahead on the s curve is far from guaranteed. Factor in head to head and no question.

That's not true regarding the Matrix. There are many non-algorithmic submissions, in fact I would say most are purely human projections versus those using formulas. The only thing algorithmic about the Matrix itself is how it determines the seeding of each team based on the individual submissions.

MSU will be ahead of Mich in final seeding.I think our 3 losses to LSU-NW-Neb are factors you're ignoring.I don't totally agree with the reasoning but that's how it will play out.

I don't agree at all. We win a blind resume test unless you're heavily weighting loss quality. Also, of those 3 losses only one of those was really bad (NW)--maybe LSU but that was so long ago. Purdue lost to W Kentucky. Duke lost to St Johns. Villanova lost to St Johns. UNC lost to Wofford. Just some examples.

Any chance a win today for them bumps them to a 1 over Xavier? This morning jerry palm has Xavier cincy as 1-2 in same region. Would love to be the three there

OTOH, they would have 15 Q1 wins which is astounding. I think unless they are blown out by UVA they are a 2-seed at worst based on their crazy impressive resume.
