someone in san fran is watching the games I watch year to year.  solid contributor is an understatement for Bell and Moody.  Great team players with leadership qualities who display excellence in how they play.  I like what they are doing out there.

Thanks and all the best to all the M players who are trying to make a living playing football!

The Moody pick was being panned in some draft circles as a bad move because you can get a kicker anytime, anywhere.  What they fail to understand is that Jake will end all worry and doubt about field goals for the next 20 years in SF.  Dude has Eddie Murry written all over him.

We're going to miss him next year...

Generally I would agree with you but......this was John Lynch making the pick, probably one of the best execs in football if not pro sports and he is a Stanford grad to boot. If you're holding an exec draft today he goes top 3 or 4, no?

Back to your point, his cap hit will be almost $3m less than Goulds and he's on his rookie contract which means his cap it is known for the next four years (a $10-$15m total cap savings). Yes, third round is unusual but depending upon when their next pick was and the fact the 9rs had a need at K, Lynch obviously felt the value was there.

My selfish side wanted him to go undrafted so the Lions could scoop him up as a UDFA. But thrilled for him. Going to a great franchise and will be a steal for the Niners.

Congrats Ronnie

So three guys who were 3 stars (DJ, Ronnie, and Schoon) and the 2 specialists all drafted.  Kudos to the coaches.

Edit:  Forgot Olu who was a 2 star!

Really glad for the kid. He doesn't have the speed like many other WRs in the draft but just knows how to play football and seems to always be in the right place at the right time.

Perfect example of how lame our WR development has been. Our #1 WR last year was a 7th round draft pick - just a few picks from being last as Mr Irrelevant.

Johnson and Wilson were less productive than our 7th round draft pick. Think about that for a moment. And they are expected to be leading our WR corp this fall. That’s somewhere between sad and hysterical.

Until we recruit 1st 2nd 3rd round draft prospects and develop them we aren’t gonna sniff a National  Championship.

The freshman from last year and this year need to step as well as the position coach with better development. That’s Mr. Bellamy who essentially hasn’t done Jack Squat with the WR room.

CJ and Wilson have been here for several years and they have only developed into #2 and #3 WR’s behind a 7th round draft pick. Digest that for a moment. Freshman WR’s play every year across the country yet our impressive haul last season didn’t do a thing all year. Another sign development at the WR position pretty much stinks.
