Ronnie Bell: first 100-yard WR since 2016
Ronnie Bell
150 yards on 9 receptions.
He's the first Wolverine 100-yards since TE Zach Gentry against Maryland last season when he had 112 on 7 catches.
But the last true WR to have a 100-yard game was shockingly 3 years ago. It was Jehu Chesson against Maryland with 112 yards on just 5 receptions.
Ronnie Bell's 150 yards is the most receiving yards by any Wolverine since Amara Darboh's 165-yard torching of................MSU in 2016.
Love these redemption stories.

Pull this before any of our WR recruits see it. Yikes.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
Or we can leave it as a harbinger of things to come.

Really, really great scouting by our coaches to find and sign him. Love Bell's game. He should get some All-B1G consideration at season's end.

Another example showing that basketball is the foundation of everything.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
The nuances of being able to play basketball well can certainly translate into significant advantages in other sports.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
It’s true. Basketball makes me better at my spreadsheets at work.

I contribute all these brilliant . . . notable . . . ordinary observations, with no points in sight.
November 17th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
Ouch. Pandering for points is never a good look.
November 17th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
We've really spread it around this year. We have 2,357 passing yards, which is pretty normal for a 10-game total, but no one player has more than a quarter of that, and nine (!) different players have caught a TD - though not Bell, oddly.
November 17th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
Shea was also the first QB to throw for 300 yards for Michigan since Speight against Maryland in 2016. The passing game has been frustrating to say the least since Rudock left. Yesterday felt extra good because the passing game got on track.
November 17th, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
since Rudock left.
Since Jedd Fisch left.
November 17th, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
He was great yesterday. Just has a way of finding those open spots in the defensive coverage.
Awesome that we get him at least for one more year!
Great game yesterday! Go Blue!!!

Good for Ronnie but sad in many ways for M
November 17th, 2019 at 2:51 PM ^
Ronnie had 98 at Illinois in the first half this season but wasn't thrown to the rest of the game.
2017 we didn't have a QB and last year was a run focused scheme with a 1,000 yard back like Higdon that was reeling off 100-yd games weekly.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:14 PM ^
You’re kidding yourself if you think we are the only program that’s “run based”. Others are run centric too and have had 100-yard receivers. Wisconsin and Oklahoma State have two of the best backs in the country, yet they produce 100-yard receiving games with QB’s and receiving cores not as talented as ours.
November 17th, 2019 at 4:50 PM ^
Big 12 plays zero defense and Wisconsin only has 1.2 receivers worth a damn.
Michigan spreads it around, but has had a bit of a frustrating passing game. There must be better examples, though.

Ronnie bell is in my top group of favorite Michigan players. His story, productivity, and raw emotion we saw at Penn state puts him in my top group. You could just see how much it hurt, and for that, I'll be forever in his corner. Keep it up young man!
November 17th, 2019 at 10:14 PM ^
Totally yes. Ronnie Bell is slippery, fast and knows how to get open. He makes important catches at critical times. The guy is a gamer.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
On a team of 4 and 5 star future NFL receivers, Ronnie Bell has been the best of any of them. We'd be seriously fucked if not for his performances this season.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:43 PM ^
Yup. He's the best receiver Michigan has currently. I feel confident he'll make the best pro too. DPJ and Collins are flashy but Bell is the catalyst for the passing game. Michigan's version of Hunter Renfrow. People should feel good about next years passing game with him guaranteed to return.

Now how about 313 vs OSU
November 17th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
That’s a damn shame.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
It's because Harbaugh has been living the Bo/Woody offense. Hopefully that's done now because the 70's were a long time ago.
November 17th, 2019 at 5:27 PM ^
Bo eventually learned to throw the ball. Took him until the end of the 1970s and then the 1980s before he trusted that kind of offense. JH is smart enough to know what it takes in today's college game; which is why he hired Gattis.

Redemption????
November 17th, 2019 at 5:00 PM ^
Agreed, Ronnie had nothing for which to redeem himself.
He had four catches for 71yds against PSU, good production.
Just keep coming at 'em in waves, and good outcomes will happen.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:33 PM ^
Congrats Ronnie. Keep up the good work ?.
November 17th, 2019 at 4:46 PM ^
He's going to be our biggest weapon against the buckeyes.
November 17th, 2019 at 5:23 PM ^
On one hand, far too long. On the other, the receiving group has the talent to do this every few games.
We'll need this kind of production these last two games. Go Blue!
November 17th, 2019 at 9:13 PM ^
Not really a redemption story. He dropped a pass that was thrown under duress a little behind him. Happens all the time to receivers, his just happened at a certain place and time.
It's not like he got demoted to the bench and somehow worked his way back.
