Ronnie Bell: first 100-yard WR since 2016

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on November 17th, 2019 at 2:27 PM

Ronnie Bell

150 yards on 9 receptions.

He's the first Wolverine 100-yards since TE Zach Gentry against Maryland last season when he had 112 on 7 catches.

But the last true WR to have a 100-yard game was shockingly 3 years ago. It was Jehu Chesson against Maryland with 112 yards on just 5 receptions.

Ronnie Bell's 150 yards is the most receiving yards by any Wolverine since Amara Darboh's 165-yard torching of................MSU in 2016.

Love these redemption stories.

We've really spread it around this year.  We have 2,357 passing yards, which is pretty normal for a 10-game total, but no one player has more than a quarter of that, and nine (!) different players have caught a TD - though not Bell, oddly.

Shea was also the first QB to throw for 300 yards for Michigan since Speight against Maryland in 2016.  The passing game has been frustrating to say the least since Rudock left.  Yesterday felt extra good because the passing game got on track.

He was great yesterday.  Just has a way of finding those open spots in the defensive coverage.

Awesome that we get him at least for one more year!

Great game yesterday!  Go Blue!!!

Ronnie had 98 at Illinois in the first half this season but wasn't thrown to the rest of the game.

2017 we didn't have a QB and last year was a run focused scheme with a 1,000 yard back like Higdon that was reeling off 100-yd games weekly.

You’re kidding yourself if you think we are the only program that’s “run based”. Others are run centric too and have had 100-yard receivers. Wisconsin and Oklahoma State have two of the best backs in the country, yet they produce 100-yard receiving games with QB’s and receiving cores not as talented as ours.

Ronnie bell is in my top group of favorite Michigan players.  His story,  productivity,  and raw emotion we saw at Penn state puts him in my top group. You could just see how much it hurt,  and for that,  I'll be forever in his corner.  Keep it up young man!

It's because Harbaugh has been living the Bo/Woody offense. Hopefully that's done now because the 70's were a long time ago.

Agreed, Ronnie had nothing for which to redeem himself.

He had four catches for 71yds against PSU, good production.

Just keep coming at 'em in waves, and good outcomes will happen.

On one hand, far too long. On the other, the receiving group has the talent to do this every few games.

We'll need this kind of production these last two games. Go Blue!

Not really a redemption story.  He dropped a pass that was thrown under duress a little behind him.  Happens all the time to receivers, his just happened at a certain place and time.

It's not like he got demoted to the bench and somehow worked his way back.
