Romero goes second overall, Driesenga 27th in NPF Draft
It was bound to happen. It was just a matter of where she would go in the first round.
Romero has been drafted second overall in the 2016 National Pro Fastpitch draft to the USSSA Pride who are based in Kissimmee, FL.
She's the first Michigan draft pick since Amanda Chidester in 2012.
This is the highest a Wolverine has ever been selected in the draft, passing Jessica Merchant who was taken 3rd overall in 2005.
This is a draft for college seniors.
2008-2011 pitcher Jordan Taylor plays for the Pride. Her and Romero on the same team.........talk about a potential dream team scenario if those two could've played on the same team at Michigan.
In the 5th round at #27 overall, the Scrap Yard Dawgs, the newest NPF franchise, selected Sara Driesenga. The 5th year senior pitcher.
She is the first Wolverine pitcher to be drafted since Jordan Taylor in 2011.
With the No. 2 pick, the @USSSAPride takes Wolverine Sierra Romero. Congrats, @Sierrajoy32! #NPFDraft2016 #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/GFyhmiPafl

who the hell went #1?
Catcher from Louisiana. Draft numbers don't really matter at the top of the order as it's usually what that teams need position-wise. PA Rebllion evidently needed a catcher.
Ohhh, I think Skankey is trying to show us up!!!

Fact. Everyone isn't always going to be everyone else's cup of tea, but those of us who love the non-revenue sports will always respect WD for helping us keep those conversations going. A huge part of why I come to MGoBlog is that it's a great place to discuss the entire AD, not just the football team.
And, on the main topic here, good for Romo. Would've been fun for her to go #1 overall, but as noted above, clearly the team with the #1 pick was looking to fill a position of need, not take the best overall player. I'm just looking forward to see what further havoc she can wreak as she moves on to the next level - but not until she does a little more damage at this level!
FUCK YEAH
