Robbie Hummel out with torn ACL
MRI results confirm that Robbie Hummel did indeed tear his ACL last night. Shame. I feel really bad for Purdue and Hummel. Hopefully they can keep it together without him and still make a run in the NCAA Tourney.

I really wish this news meant our team could shoot more accurately.

Everyone will forget about Robbie Hummel and Purdue when we win the Big Ten Tourney

might actually be able to win a game against a ranked team. That would be their first one of the year unless you count Northwestern who managed to seek in at 25 for one week.

Dang... is that really true? I haven't been paying close attention to them.
If so, they have much more in common with the Dantonio years (where he has beaten exactly one team ranked in the AP Top 25 at the time of the game... Wolvies last year) than I thought.

You gotta beat the teams that you're expected to beat before you start beating the teams that you're not expected to beat. For the most part, Dantonio has done that (with the exception CMU). Now, in year 4, he needs to steer the ship in a slightly different direction

We beat Wisconsin and Gonzaga this year.....both ranked at the time and currently ranked.

Gonzaga was just out of the Top 25 when you played them IIRC, but yes, they are a very good team as always.

Hate to see this. Get well soon Robbie.

Man, that sucks. They were looking like a Final Four team of late.

Hummel has the injury luck of a Michigan tailback. Poor guy. I'll be annoyed if this allows Sparty to finagle a share of the conference crown now.

went from an elite team to a solid team. Huge drop off. Purdue lost 3 straight games when Hummel was out with an injury. They were a legit NC contender.

There goes their chance at the Final Four in Indy.

my former co-worker who is a spartan fan just posted as his facebook status 20 mins ago:
"thank you lord for tearing robbie hummels ACL..."

I never wish any injury on any player of any team. This is very sad. Wish the best of luck to Purdue.
