RIP: Former WTKA Analyst Jim Moore

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

SIAP, but I just saw that former WTKA analyst Jim Moore passed away last week. His memorial service was today.

I believe they always referred to Moore on-air as the Ann Arbor sports scene's "Jedi Master," and his analysis always seemed to be spot-on. He was always on with Dennis Fithian, Dave Shand, etc. He wasn't flashy, but as I recall, he was almost always right.

Here's his obituary. Rest in peace, and Go Blue.

He was a bright ray of light when that complete asshole Jeff Defran was on WTKA. While Jeff was not the troll that Valenti is, Jeff was probably the stupidest radio host next to that Bill guy on the Huge Show. Jim Moore would join occasionally and provide some insight that improved the show, even if for a few minutes. How Steve Clark did not shoot himself while working with DeFran is a mystery

Jim - rest in peace and thanks for your contributions!

I saw him less and less over the last several years, and the times I did see him it was pretty clear he was suffering from something like Parkinson's, which the obit confirms.

He always offered sane, insightful analysis about football and basketball on WTKA. He stopped coming on the station right around when RR got to town so I never got to hear his thoughts about Rodriguez, although I don't think he would have been a big fan. Regardless of the sport, Moore was always a proponent of strong defense.

I had a few interactions with him at WTKA events, and he was a really solid and friendly guy.
