Rich Rod vs. UConn

Submitted by the_white_tiger on
Rich Rodriguez is 4-0 against UConn (and coach Randy Edsall). The year they (UConn and WVU) shared the title, UConn lost by 45 points. Games:
Year Location WVU UConn WVU record UConn record
2004 UConn 31 19 8-4 8-4
2005 WVU 45 13 11-1 5-6
2006 UConn 37 11 11-2 4-8
2007 WVU 66 21 11-2 9-4
Stats:
WVU UConn
PPG 44.75 16
YPG 465.5 274
Turnovers (Total ) 7 10
I'm not saying that this had any reason for why UConn was scheduled for the opener, merely that despite UConn's success (they were a combined 26-22, with two bowl games and WVU was 41-9 with 4 bowl games two of which were BCS) RR had their number. Maybe this is all moot considering that Connecticut is better than those past teams, RR only played a UConn team with a winning record twice, RR had very good teams, and 4 games is a pretty small sample size, but this is interesting nevertheless.

As a USF alumni myself I can confirm that USF has pretty much given West Virginia fits with their defensive style. Leavitt and Rich Rod are bitter rivals and the two teams played each other as tough as any two teams did all year. The 06 and 07 USF/WVU games were extremely intense and notable for being basically the only times Pat White and Steve Slaton were both held in check.

but I'd say RR owned UCONN. He crushed UCONN every time they played. I guess that is another reason not to be happy about the choice of UCONN for the opener in 2010.

that's what he will be vs UCOnn after the 2013 season...I am also sure why it was not Pitt in this slot....he wants nothing to do with them, much like JoePa......

is 3-2 against Pitt since coming to the Big East. And I'm pretty sure they were just fielding lacrosse players and frat legacies back in 04. So...fail. And yes, both JoePa and RichRod tremble in the face of the mighty Pittsburgh Panthers.

bu..bu..bu..Pat White... he had White for 3 of those years, and RR owes everything to Pat White. RR would have done terribly at WVU without White.

I'd say that it is a reason to be happy that we are playing them. Do we want a win for the opener? Although I do understand where people are coming from.

and UCONN never had any. They couldn't match up with the speed RR was putting on either side of the ball. Pat White and Slaton were too much to match up against. If UCONN stopped them, they had to deal with Brock Lesnar playing fullback. Damn freak.
