Remaining unsigned top recruits

ESPN has an article with their thoughts on the top remaining unsigned recruits. I don't know that there is much new info, other than the fact that this covers all those out there, not just those Michigan is in the running for. They have Michigan getting Parker, FSU getting Dorsey, and Knight isn't listed. Also, Seantel is predicted to go to the Buckeyes.

p.s. I did a cursory look through the mgoboard, and did a search, so I don't think this was posted yet. If so, sorry about that.

osu hasn't seemed to get any of the large prospects they have in the past this year. Class is down a little bit this year, but maybe they put all their eggs in the seantrel basket? Either way, I don't think they get him.

Did anyone notice that right below the list of players, it lists "The Bests of the BCS Conferences" and says Penn St has the best uniforms in the Big Ten and Ohio State has the most tradition. What a joke. Michigan versus Ohio St on tradition is debatable, I will give them that. Even though I think Michigan is the clear winner. But Penn St having better uniforms than us...that's a joke.

Penn State's uniforms are taylored bedsheets. OSU most tradition? Their most famous tradition was taught to them by Michigan.

Unfortunately, this is part of the down year after effects.

I keep reading all these stories that say Michigan has dropped from like 4th to 11th in football tradition and so forth. I'm sorry, but you can't drop off that severely by simply having a couple of down years. It's like all those "Greatest of All Time" lists that are way over-weighted to people who played more recently. People are always so short-sighted.

When measuring tradition, the greatest weight is to be applied to the most distant past. Like reverse exponential smoothing. That's the whole friggin' point of tradition -- historic accomplishments and contributions which compound in glory and influence over the years.

Think of it -- every football team that has a linebacker can thank U of M for creating the position. The innovation may not have been as significant in that first year of its inception, but over the years it has grown to the point where it's nearly impossible to think of a defense without linebackers. Hence, we have defined the game of football as it is today -- that's tradition.

All these articles are just written to draw revenue from the biggest markets. And Columbus is a much bigger football market than Ann Arbor.

How does OSU have more tradition? We had already won 5 national titles before they could even beat us once -- in 16 tries!

What does our current slump have to do with tradition? Nothing at all. Bullocks!

Judging who has the better uniforms is purely up to one's own tastes. Personally, I like Michigan's uniforms, but then again, I'm biased. This guy likes Penn State's, no big deal.

As for tradition, that is a little less subjective.

Besides, it's not like Miochigan is the flavor of the month anywhere.

EDIT: and to show how asinine that list is, Wisconsin is not the place you want to go for early playing time, in fact it is one of the worst places to go to for that this year. Also, Michigan is not the most likely to get players to the NFL.
