I'm not defending the dumbass fan that threw at him, but imagine being a notorious cheater who got off Scott free and leaving the field in a huff because someone threw an object at someone else.

Edit- my point has been wildly misrepresented here, but to be fair those that pointed out that it was not relevant were right. Then I was attacked for an unrelated but, I felt, fair post, and lashed out in response.

Maybe consider the role a vitriolic response plays in these situations in driving further vitriol, you see it constantly on this board. Person makes maybe unrelated or slightly incorrect point, gets firebombed, has no choice but to fight back, gets further firebombed, etc.

So if I can take the liberty to interpret what your gripe is, you are basically saying that because 2 current MLB managers were implicated, investigated, and then punished by MLB for their roles in the Astros trash can scandal, those two shall never be allowed to defend their players and to look out for the safety of their players, while for the vast majority of others, it's OK for them?

Can we then apply those same restrictions to Tony LaRussa because he's a dangerous POS who drinks and drives,  something much worse that cheating in the minds of most people?  And what dirt can we dig up to apply to yet other managers so that they're not allowed to stand up for their players?

Cora was completely in the right by pulling his team from the field and I would expect him to do so if it ever happens again.

If anyone misrepresented your point, it was you. In fact, you are literally the only person who could have misrepresented your point, as you are the one who made it - or attempted to - which sounded a lot like "the fan shouldn't have thrown the ball, but it's understandable that someone threw a ball at Verdugo b/c his manager is a cheater."

Your logic is... flawed.

CaliforniaNobody. Look at the very first reply you responded to. There was nothing in the least vitriolic in his statement. You were the one spoiling for a fight and escalated things and it was not in response to being firebombed.

Be a man (or a woman), stop making excuses and blaming others for your poor behavior and try to do better in the future.

Lifelong Yankee fan and Red Sock hater here...yeah, this is a really bad take, and you should feel bad. If you'd ever been hit by a baseball you'd know just how doubly awful your thoughts on this are. We have an epidemic of fans crossing the line--in Europe, it's racist garbage, and in Mexico, homophobic garbage. Everywhere, people fighting over sports and attacking athletes on social media. Here, we increasingly have fans actually attacking players physically. And your answer is, "Well, Cora's a cheater"? Wow...

That’s terrible. How bad must your character be to think that hurting a fellow human being—-if you weren’t also a bad thrower—is a reasonable thing to do?
