PSU New Bball Coach
Penn State found their new coach, Mike Rhoades was at VCU and won two conference titles from 2017-2023, and made the tourney 3 times. Dude is from Penn, spent most of his career in Virginia area. Will be interesting because Johns and Zeb transferred to him, wonder if Zeb will follow.
I'm sure he's a fine coach but that roster was picked bare between grads and the portal. He's starting from scratch.
Calvin Booth ain't walking through that door
Yeah, I think Shrewsberry is a decent coach but he was basically a .500 coach with a team full of seniors and grad transfers. Rhoades is going to be taking over a much younger/newer team and even if he's able to swing some guys to Happy Valley it's going to basically be a complete redo.
I hate to say it but if Bufkin goes pro, their roster is now worse than ours other than HD (assuming he returns).

Unless you’re a wrestler (or maybe they have a good volleyball program too? I can’t remember) or have ties to the area or school, not sure why you would want to go there if you have options
Wishing him luck. (A little luck.)
"endowed"
He’s the Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Men's Basketball Head Coach?
They use “Peter” and “Endowed” and I’m the only one giggling here?
Happy Valley...Beaver Stadium...vague references to genitalia are a Penn State thing. For this reason, I say, fuck psu and all their joepa loving delusional fans!!*
*East German Judge, I will never let this die.

Will be interesting to see how the faster paced style works in the Big Ten. Izzo and Underwood have always preferred a more up and down, fast paced style but most of the other teams force you to slow it down. So I’m not sure he’s going to be able to employ preferred style as much as he wants.
I’m a Dayton grad/fan and have seen my share of Mike Rhoades at VCU the past six years. My two cents is this is a weird fit.
Rhoades was a good recruiter for Atlantic 10 purposes and recruited to a very specific type: tough, athletic kids that play bully ball and can’t shoot. And it worked well at VCU because you could rely on outrecruiting everyone in the conference except for maybe Dayton some years. Rhoades’ offense has been brutal his entire time at VCU. I don’t think he can rely on outrecruiting much of the Big Ten and employ the same style. I think Penn State would have been better served with more of an Xs and Os mind.
Is it rounding up a gang that can't shoot straight really outrecruiting other folks? Seems more like cornering the market at the thrift shop.

Hopefully Frames Janklin takes him under his wing.
