Prospect to watch: ATH Kody Jones
Wiltfong just logged a CB with a confidence of 7 for ATH Kody Jones out of Germantown, TN.
He’s 5’11, 180lbs and the #279 player in the country.
EJ Holland also tweeted out his emoji when a new commitment is on the horizon though no name given but I’m assuming the two things aren’t coincidental.

It's starting to feel like every athlete in Tennessee will be in Ann Arbor by the end of the year.

Can Tennessee be the new Massachusettes? I don't mind the Mass/NJ pipeline we seemed to kinda have to D.Brown, but Tennessee would be much better

If they can use this opening to establish connections to Tennessee it could become a solid pipeline. It is not nearly as far for parents to travel as the deep South states. Nashville is a bit of a drive to A2 (about 700 miles) but not unreasonable. Round trip air is not too steep at just under $200 per person. And some away games are a very reasonable drive at around 400 to 500 miles. Indiana, Champaign, Ohio (ugh).

As someone who had season tickets from Nashville, there are some really easy flights. I chose Southwest and took the last flight on Friday and first flight on Monday (missing no work).

As long as you time it so that you don't hit Louisville or Cincinnati traffic you can make it from Nashville to AA in about 8 hours. Not a super-pleasant trip but eminently doable.

Someone has roots in TN for sure

Wasn't Sam McGee
from Tennessee
where the cotton blooms and blows?
February 4th, 2021 at 6:56 PM ^
Sam just CB'd him to UM too.
February 4th, 2021 at 6:57 PM ^
And Newkirk too.

I did as well

Your balls...they are made of crystal.
February 4th, 2021 at 7:11 PM ^
Sam Webb and Josh Newkirk have also put in crystal balls.
Jones probably projects best at corner or nickel. The hybrid nickel/safety role that Seth described seems up his alley. From watching his sophomore film, Jones looks pretty athletic, but rather raw as a corner. Unfortunately I didn't see any film from this past year, so I'm interested to see how he has improved his coverage skills.
Targeting Tennessee is a move that I like. There are 12 4* prospects in the 2022 class there. Tennessee is the only school that recruits at a high level in-state, and they are going through a coaching transition (coming off recruiting sanctions and to a mediocre recruiter to boot), so this seems like a good time to make some inroads. In addition to Jones and Groves, I think we also are targeting 4* OT Fisher Anderson and the big prize, 5* DT Walter Nolen (#2 overall). 247 seems to think we'll have a shot at Nolen, but it certainly won't be as easy as a single Mo Linguist phone call.

Was just gonna say that. Raid Tennessee while they’re in flux
February 4th, 2021 at 7:15 PM ^
I believe they're also going hard after the #4 player in the state, Keaten Wade. He looks like a good fit as an OLB in a 3-4.
February 4th, 2021 at 7:19 PM ^
Yea I think I might've undersold it. I know they're targeting 3* CB Myles Pollard, a teammate of Junior Colson, as well.
Regardless, love the strategy.
February 4th, 2021 at 7:39 PM ^
It's strange how CB Myles Pollard is only a 3-star... He has potential to be a high 4-star by end of cycle.
February 4th, 2021 at 8:27 PM ^
No doubt about that. Recruiting services are way behind on Pollard.
February 4th, 2021 at 7:19 PM ^
He’s also a twin. His brother is Destin Wade who is a lower ranked QB prospect in the class. I wouldn’t mind the next cycle to be a two QB class to have more depth at the position since the transfer portal is going to make retaining QBs extremely difficult.
February 4th, 2021 at 7:45 PM ^
Did you watch his tape? He looks superb at RB. wouldn't be surprised at all if he stays in offense.
February 4th, 2021 at 8:00 PM ^
He definitely looked a lot more comfortable on offense with the ball in his hands. With Linguist taking the lead though, I figured he would be ticketed to defense.
February 4th, 2021 at 10:57 PM ^
Clearly you've never been on the other end of a single Mo Linguist phone call...it's a strong verbal just waiting for your commitment.
February 5th, 2021 at 3:13 AM ^
And nobody but nobody is mo' cunning than Linguist
February 4th, 2021 at 7:21 PM ^
Damn, Mo Linguist doing work already. New Tennessee pipeline?
February 5th, 2021 at 10:02 AM ^
It shouldn't be too hard. There are a TON of Midwest transplants in the Nashville area and so I would expect it to be almost as fertile for B1G teams as it is for the SEC if you put in some time. I see Michigan, Ohio St, and Michigan St. stuff here all the time, not as much as I see Tennessee or Alabama stuff, but I would think that Michigan offers would at least find a willing ear as it's likely a recruit here has some connection to a Michigan fan.
February 4th, 2021 at 7:31 PM ^
Is he Mike Jones' brother?
February 4th, 2021 at 9:47 PM ^
Jones, Michael
February 4th, 2021 at 11:22 PM ^
Who?
(Although I'm 100% certain you are familiar with it, "LaserWolf", I'm gonna link it anyway):

Pretty amazing film. Anyone know what position he is being recruited for?
February 5th, 2021 at 10:03 AM ^
And he just committed.
