the point system works. book it.

The Rise of Bouje has proven to me the point system can, and will, work. He made an objectionable argument in one thread and was down to -400000000. But because he stuck with it and didn't deliberately troll, he has quickly climbed out. Contrast with BlueFront, a deliberate troll who made one thread and then continued to be a douche. Still -400000 Ipso Facto, it works.

He was banned because people elsewhere were 1) taking him seriously and 2) confusing him with MGoBlog as a whole. The credibility hit was unacceptable, and since he was just a schtick I didn't feel too bad about killing him. I bet someone who still comments regularly was THE KNOWLEDGE.

so much KNOWLEDGE to pass on to all of us. He was like a more pissed off assured of himself Bistro from the Scout Michigan board a while ago. For anyone who remembers Bistro his posts were kind of like GBMW saying that someone from the team will leave before the season starts. Ya know vague predictions that can come true but if they don't he still has the outs of "well I guess they upped their grades" type of thing. People like Bistro make the message boards fun, sure they're an idiot but with their crazy predictions it was a good time.

That I have no idea how the hell I'm positive. I counted easily like -300/400 (when I finally got positive) in that thread alone and even some more today when I first started posting again. I really have no idea where this 200 points came from.... And if we were to get retroactive points for ridiculously wrong predictions we'd all be -400000000 for last year

Thanks to whoever gave me the +200 hp boost. If it was Brian again thanks I promise I'll be good from now on. I swear though it wasn't me I don't pad stats lol

thread. I had at least 10 -20/-40 posts in the "Rolle Fiasco" so like I said I have no idea where these magical points came from.

I actually think it's a result of the community self-correcting. Bouje said something moronic, and doggedly defended it. He came back the next day, acknowledged that he said something moronic, and established that he wasn't a troll. A number of people clearly felt that he had been torpedoed a tad excessively, and upvoted his ensuing posts. If I were you Brian, I'd be amazed that this was a rare case of people in an internet community being nice to each other.

Look at Bluefront he made a ton of posts and that only made things worse.... I still have no idea how I came back from the dead.... The plus 1 or 2 that I get for the post is well and good but only if I don't get negged -10 lol. It can work both ways

Definitely, infinite posting along can't make it happen. But not totally comparable to BlueFront because you're not coming out of left field - seemingly on purpose - every time you post, so people felt bad about all of the negging and helped you out. You got in a rut and found a way out - kudos for that! It would have been just as easy to just give up or turn into an angry troll.

Props to your name and avatar. But I'm just wondering - did you edit your identity or were the beneficiary of similar kindness since I never saw you post before today? Maybe you won't answer this question. That's alright.

I think one of my favorite posts of the past few days was bouje's explanation of the two different definitions of the verb "neg."

i was pimping the bar as i usually do -- see-through nylon shirt, leather pants, authentic Sioux head dress, medieval leg armor plates and boots -- and some chick started looking at me. she was about a 7.2. i told her that she looked like a female cow that had been domestically assaulted by her bull husband, and that i'd rather stick my dick inside a bear trap. she laughed, i told her i was completely serious. she said it'd be good to get to know me better - i said not good enough.

I don't think the laws of science really allow you to try it twice - that is, if you do it right the first time. Maybe after a heavy investment in reconstructive surgery.
