Player wearing Zinter’s 65 appears in open practice clip

The Michigan Insider YouTube channel posted an open practice clip from Thursday’s practice.

At minute 1:25, 2 OLs wearing 65 and 77 line up for some 2 on 2 drills - I believe it is Mike Elston directing these. I can’t make out facial features behind the helmets, but both put their hands in the ground. Given Zinter’s injury, it seems unlikely he’s practicing, unless I’ve been in a coma for the last month. Do players switch numbers for bowl practice? Can anyone enlighten me?

It's not one of the early enrollees. Frazier is wearing 77 and Guarnera is in 53.

Could be a PWO who just joined the team or someone who recently changed numbers, probably because he was waiting for Zinter's career to be over to do so. Yes, players change their numbers during/after/before the season for all kinds of reasons. Harbaugh also has a program rule that you can choose any number coming in and then whoever gets on the field first gets to claim it. Ja'den McBurrows and Amorion Walker both went into this season wearing #1, and we didn't learn that McBurrows was switching to #18 until the first game IIRC.

I took this off of Catapult

He is working RT vs. the DL Ones in the background - center of screen??

Better shot at 58 seconds

Noah Stewart wearing it to honor Zak?? Seems about the right size.  He normally wears 61, I have no idea if he traveled.  This is just a guess.  Background on Stewart below.
