Phil Steele predicts Gator Bowl for UM, BCS title game for OSU

Submitted by Logan88 on

ESPN has listed Phil Steele's 2013 Big 10 bowl predictions here:

Surprisingly, that is to say not surprisingly, Steele is bullish on OSU (predicting they will play for it all against Bama) and bearish on UM (predicting we will play Ole Miss in the Gator). Well, I guess the good news is that we will get to pound on the Rebs and show Treadwell what a big mistake he made buying into Freeze's BS.

I remember one prediction from Steele in 2009...he was on WTKA with Sam/Ira on the Insider the thursday before the game with ND. He flat out said Michigan would lose the game by 21 plus. His reasoning was because they got "handled" in South Bend the year before.

You know that game in which Grady fumbled inside the 5 that would have made the score 28-24 and Michigan with all the momentum. After that day I haven't bothered to read anything Steele pipes out anymore.

Phil Steele derps out on a limb and predicts that everything that already happened in 2012 will happen exactly the same way in 2013. Bold pic. Hurr-durr.

Here are his 2012 picks around the same time

BCS Championship - Oklahoma vs Florida State (Notre Dame vs Alabama)
Rose - USC vs Wisconsin (Stanford vs Wisconsin)
Cotton - Oklahoma State vs Arkansas (Oklahoma vs Texas A& M)
Orange - Oregon vs South Florida (Florida State vs Northern Illinois)
Sugar - LSU vs Michigan State (Florida vs Louisville)

He got 1 team right out of all of them..

I'm confused by the OSU and Nebraska picks.  Is he alleging they play in the B1G Title game, Nebraska loses, but still gets picked to a BCS game?

Not sure what to think because that makes the most sense but we've seen previous game losers get bumped down a bowl or two for losing, so I'm just wondering what justifies picking current or future shortcomers into BCS games when it hasn't happened before.  Usually #3 steps into that role, right?  If that's the case, then who does he have playing OSU in the B1G Title game or did he not pick it?  I don't want to laugh at Staee getting shafted by life again before I have the facts.
