Phil Knight stepping down at Nike

An interesting development to happen at the exact time we are about to announce our apparel contract.  Nike chair Phil Knight, of Pimp my Middling Athletic Department fame, is stepping down.  There's absolutely no way this has anything to do with us, right?  I'm guessing the answer is somewhere between no and audible laughter that I even suggested it...  The guy is 76.  This is just weird timing.

Um, I never said anything about "America," did I? When I was young I really wondered how some people couldn't figure out reading comprehension exams, because all you had to do was - read. But I'm not going to assume that you bothered to pay attention to when Moore made that film and what was going on at the time in Indonesia. At the time, Indonesia was still ruled by Suharto, political reforms were still in the future. Suharto ordered the invasion of East Timor and the subsequent massacre. And if he was known for anything besides anti-Communism, it was corruption. "Democratic "? That's a good one. Sorry for the "socialist whining" - did you learn that one at Michigan?

I actually agree with you for the most part, but I posted this as it would have been board worthy even without the apparel contract stuff. This is fairly big news for CFB in general. Sort of the Oregon equivalent of Ross selling the Dolphins.

This is my first ever post but for whatever it's worth, I am a michigan alum out in Colorado, when I stopped back in town to visit family in AA, we went to the Mden and the more formal michigan attire store just to the south of it(sorry I forget the name).

 

The clerks at the counter said that we were switching to Nike for sure, obviously the clerks working there don't have a red telephone to Jim Hackett's desk but I struck me that they were so confident at the time.

 

Other information seems to be confirming their belief....
