Actually Jedd should get one that says, "yeah it was all me."

Exactly this. . .

Well, maybe the real issue is that the dude who thought Pep Hamilton was a good offensive coordinator also thought Josh Gattis is a good offensive coordinator.
Perhaps because he can't get himself to actually hire a guy who he is willing to give full control over the entire offense and because anyone with some leverage would balk at trying to run an offense aligned to Jim Harbaugh's notion of what constitutes good offense.
All speculative, of course, but at this point it's anyone's guess what the heck has happened with Michigan's offense over the last 3 years.

I think it's entirely possible that this offense is all Josh Gattis and sucked monkey balls so far this year. I mean, other than one half vs. MTSU.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
The offense would be fine IF we had a serviceable QB but we wasted 2 off seasons on Shea Patterson when he’s not good
September 21st, 2019 at 5:09 PM ^
Okorn, Peters, and now Shea all suck. It’s almost like the QBs aren’t getting good coaching here.
September 21st, 2019 at 5:18 PM ^
Harbaugh is responsible for recruiting his qbs. Joe Milton looks like a miss too.
September 21st, 2019 at 6:18 PM ^
Milton was always a high upside, “process if he doesn’t work out” guy. I’ll give them a pass on that one.

I don't think Harbaugh hires a dude as inexperienced and untested as Gattis to be his 'all in control' OC if he really just wants to hire the best guy out there. You could pick up some guy running crazy stuff in FCS and he'd have more stuff to show on his resume than Gattis did.
Let's not forget the way this Gattis hire played out, with confusion for weeks and weeks about who actually has what job title and what would happen to Pep etc. It always felt like Gattis was hired to be part of a brain trust, not *the* undisputed shot caller.
Even if Gattis has a certain amount of control over the actual playcalling, I don't think that means other voices like Harbaugh himself but also Warriner for instance don't affect the game plan and how Michigan's overall approach looks.
It'd actually be surprising if an offense this out of sync and without an identity was the brainchild of a single man.

"i wasn't good either"
September 21st, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
We do not.

Hoke > Harbaugh
September 21st, 2019 at 4:24 PM ^
That's just stupid. Harbaugh is an elite turn around guy and a mediocre long term coach. He would have been a god at UM had he stayed here two years and moved on.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:34 PM ^
This seems right. Sadly.
September 21st, 2019 at 7:01 PM ^
Harbaugh isn’t elite at shit. His prior successes were flukes.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
Pep Hamilton should eat my ass.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
Drevno was ran out of town, Pep was ran out of town, and now people want Gattis gone... maybe it’s time to direct our attention to a different person... I know who thought it was a good idea to run Ben Mason from the 7, or have tight ends as the slot receiver... those don’t necessarily fit a Joe Morehead assistant
September 21st, 2019 at 4:31 PM ^
It’s like people who have been marrying 3-4 times and try to blame the spouse. At some point, you have to look at the consistent person in each relationship.. and it’s harbaugh. Not an insider, but I have heard from Pep and another prominent football player that Harbaugh completely abandons the game plan and changes plays. I loved Harbaugh. But it’s time for him to go.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
...or maybe we could take a deep breath, calm down, and stop running people out of town? It clearly isn’t working.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:41 PM ^
I agree.. we should stay the course. But if a changes needs to be made, it has to be harbaugh this time.
September 21st, 2019 at 5:11 PM ^
How’s Joe Moorehead doing at Mississippi State? Brian and the guys on this blog love him, but he’s getting his ass kicked now. That coaching tree is overrated. He had Saquan Barkley, and honestly couldn’t get him to a decent YPC average most games. Look who’s doing well on one of the worst teams in the NFL. It’s not Fat Joe.

Best OC hands down was Jedd Fisch. Great combo of power and spread. This Gattis zone read shit sucks. It is Rich Rod v2
September 21st, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
Jedd Fisch wasn't the OC.. Harbaugh was. That was Harbaugh's offense and Fisch worked with the passing game. Fisch gets way too much credit around here. There is a reason he is not sought after

Man, the revisionist historians are out in full force today. No, no one wants Pep back.
I know this is a scorching hot take on a day like today, but it's game 3 of Gattis' tenure. I'm not writing him off yet
September 21st, 2019 at 5:01 PM ^
Actually Shea wanted Pep back
