The Pitt AD is the former Nebraska AD (Steve Pederson) who fired Frank Solich in 2003 (when Pelini was DC and interim coach).

I don't think Pelini is going to Pitt.

Maybe Pitt will poach Al Golden from Miami and Pelini can coach the Canes.

And he buyout was too big...it was no surprise.

Only Todd Graham turns on his team after a year. And if Alvarez wasn't paying assistants, he damn sure wasn't going to pay a huge pay to Pitt.

I thought the bigger surprise was hiring a coach from Utah St.

He had such a buyout from Pitt. I honestly expected this for so long that I'd assumed he'd had a clause for UW/Ore St in his contract. I actually think Anderson is a very good coach but obviously didn't feel comfortable in Madison. That hire didn't shock me due to what he did at Utah St. but I did think they'd go get a bigger name or a guy with UW ties. I thought he was one if those "boom or bust" hires with a lean toward boom, IMO. Yet, I know what you mean. As for Graham, that guy is turning into a hired gun. Good coach but I wouldn't hire him without the contract being almost entirely in my favor as far as buyout for leaving & firing.
