O/U- Number of Hoke recruits on 2017 O-Line

Submitted by jimmyshi03 on

Looking at the current depth chart by class, the news from this weekend, and Brian's post-OB piece and the podcast, I'm wondering how many Hoke recruits you expect to be starting next season on the O-Line.

Not counting Newsome, who occupies a kind of gray area of committing to Hoke initially and then reaffirming for Harbaugh, or Runyan (a legacy in a similar situation) you are left with Cole, JBB and Kugler. How many do you think are on the field against Florida? Just Cole? All three?

Yeah and don't you dare blame this year or the last on the staff when you had the Kalis trickle down effect on the unit as a whole. It's just not right. I know I'm an ass but I say it how it is sometimes okay.

I've got

LT - Cole

LG - Bredeson

C -Ruiz

RG - Onwenu

RT - JBB

For Jumbo package, bring in Ulizio then Runyan as extra tackles, Wheatley and Asiasi as tight end.

I think we will protect the QB pretty well, but I am still concerned about the run game and therefore would love to have Najee along with Evans to create some explosiveness and "something out of nothing" running like we saw from Dalvin Cook and Saquon Barkley during the bowls.

Right now it's about as valid as this one.

LT - Who

LG - What

C - I Don't Care

RG - I Don't Know

RT - Nobody

He was the 6th lineman in at one point and can play guard and center.  However, maybe the staff thinks Ruiz is college ready enough to go and he would take Kugler's spot.

I also saw the camp notes about Uluzio playing himself into first team LT reps for next spring but I'll believe it when I see it.  Based on his profile, he seems like a better fit at RT.  Would be great to have him as a legitimate option though.

Also, I'm sure in certain injury scenarios Cole might move to LT.  I think someone with Bredeson's recruiting profile is more likely to move over to LT out of necessity assuming Newsome isn't ready to go and Cole stays at C.  I didn't include Herbert as it seems he is leaning Florida but he would be great to hold until as well.

Total guesses below but I tossed around a few different scenarios.  Think the most likely one below is the one where Newsome is not ready to go yet and we get Filiaga.

No Newsome and no Filiaga

LT: Bredeson
LG: Kugler
C: Cole
RG: Onwenu
RT: JBB

LT2: JBB
LG2: Runyan Jr.
C2: Ruiz
RG2: Spanellis
RT2: Uluzio

With Filiaga

LT: Bredeson
LG: Kugler
C: Cole
RG: Onwenu
RT Filiaga or JBB

LT2: JBB
LG2: Runyan Jr.
C2: Ruiz
RG2: Spanellis
RT2: Uluzio or Filiaga or JBB

LT3: Filiaga

With Newsome (realize this is a long shot)

LT: Newsome
LG: Bredeson
C: Cole
RG: Onwenu
RT: JBB

LT2: Bredeson
LG2: Runyan Jr.
C2: Ruiz
RG2: Kugler
RT2: Uluzio

LT3: JBB

Newsome and Filiaga (obviously most ideal)

LT: Newsome
LG: Bredeson
C: Cole
RG Onewenu
RT Filiaga or JBB

LT2: Bredeson
LG2: Kugler
C2: Ruiz
RG2: Runyan Jr
RT2: Uluzio or Filiaga or JBB

LT3: JBB

I think this year they are planning something big. As you know with the rise in people’s demands they are raising the efficiency of the recruits and therefore I also go right here to get my assignments written by an efficient writers. This year all the three will be on the field against the Florida.
