OT: Your Home for Early Saturday Musings
Nothing going on in the world of sport right now. Ōsaka won again early this morning — Nadal and the Djoker will do the same tomorrow. A 13-year-old just won the figure skating Nationalas which is pretty cool — but my morning thoughts go to the NHL:
How in the Hell do you make the ASG games be at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 pm on a Saturday night!? Bettman has lost his mind. Even if it is in California, start it at like 3 or 4 local time — not 5:30. Hell, even going up against the Pro Bowl tomorrow would be better than doing it late tonight — just abysmal planning.
Go Blue! Beat Penn State in NYC!

To be fair, unedited footage of someone wordlessly consuming a pot roast might actually do well against the Pro Bowl.
I am actually at work this morning, then I have some errands to run and then I get to pick up my son and go home to find something - anything - to do. Probably laundry and chores. No, probably TV - I know me.

I'd be interested in the gravy recipe for that pot roast.

Homemade gravy or store bought?
January 26th, 2019 at 2:44 PM ^
At my house, the best gravies are ALWAYS homemade.
That said, I have to confess a weakness for the yummy gravy from KFC.

Instead of the Pro Bowl, I’d prefer to see a gravy-making competition among MGoBloggers.

The Pro Bowl actually draws a significant TV audience. What this says about the average intelligence and depravity of our fellow Americans, I will leave you to draw your own conclusions.

Then I'm guessing that the ratings in Ohio are through the roof.

It looks like another Big Lebowski movie may be happening.

I really hope it’s not just a teaser for a SB commercial.

A Superbowl commercial... for The Big Lebowski

Did you watch the Red Wings beat the Oilers 3-2 in Edmonton last week? All Wings goals scored by Wolverines - two by Luke Glendenning and one by Dylan Larkin. Very nice.
And the frosting on the cake - Justin Abdelkader missing an empty net goal from about 10 feet away. It is true - Abdelkader is a Sparty!
Go Wings - and Go Blue!!!

Abdelkader with the Very Professional Sparty No.

Slow sports day....where are Stant and Gillooly when you need them?

Musings of bored people are not thread worthy in my opinion.

going to the NMU hockey game tonight. Minnesota State and NMU are the top two teams in the WCHA right now. -16 wind chill in Marquette today.
January 26th, 2019 at 12:22 PM ^
-19 ambient here in NW lower this a.m. -27 with windchill. however, the sun is out and it has skyrocketed to 4.
January 26th, 2019 at 12:50 PM ^
What a coincidence, it’s 4 here too. Well, 4 and 70.
January 26th, 2019 at 1:19 PM ^
but there's no crowds, traffic, quakes, fires, mudslides, nobody wants to riot, and homey isn't slinging any rock (cocaine) when the windchill is like this. in fact, we don't have any homeys.
however, the barn pump is going to freeze in the next couple of days, and that'll mean hucking 5 gallon buckets of water down to the barn. when it freezes that usually lasts for months. that can be like work sometimes. global warming, like joe dimaggio, where have you gone?
January 26th, 2019 at 12:44 PM ^
Well shit. I did not realize the NHL all star game is in San Jose. Getting ready to head there for ToledoWolverine Jr.’s games today and tomorrow.
Currently watching the Ohio State-Nebraska rock fight. This is not good basketball.

I get that watching golf doesn't float most peoples boats but we have the Farmers at Torrey Pines here in SD going on. I consider it the big event to open up the year (because it pretty much is). Perfect weather to make all of ya in 0 degrees feel jealous. Good names on the leaderboard.

Just booked my flight for SD in May.
First time I'll be back in 11 years!

I watched last night's game in a bar and wasn't really paying attention to the announcers (could hardly hear them), but apparently it was Gus Johnson on the call. Does anyone have a website that tracks the announcing teams for college basketball? I googled it but didn't find anything comprehensive.
