OT - your go to work lunch
So while earning my Podcast Endurance Badge from Sunday's podcast I was struck by Dave describing his go-to-weekday lunch as kale, red cabbage, carrots and dressing. However I realized that my go-to lunch during the week isn't much more exciting, and I eat it most days. What's your bring-from-home go to lunch? do you get your whole day's worth of veggies like Dave?

If I'm bringing from home, it'll be a prepped chicken/rice/veggie bowl. Maybe with some pesto if the macros allow it. But typically I'm going to Las Cazuelas or CK Grille.

Honestly? don't eat lunch. I do intermittent fasting, wake up at 5, have my coffee at noon, a few keto snacks at my desk after, then eat my first meal when I get home. I try and keep my window down to 9 hours, but sometimes stretch it to 12.

Here's a recipe for those of you who will bring a glass container to work: boil water for pasta. While it's cooking, take a healthy handful of arugula and halved cherry tomatoes or chopped tomatoes, douse with a flavorful olive oil (amount at your discretion) and salt and pepper to taste. Toss together. When the pasta is done, drain it and pour on top of the arugula salad. Let sit for 5 minutes while you're doing other stuff, then toss it all together. You can add some finely diced fresh mozzarella if so inclined, and anything else that you might have, like olives or steamed vegetables. This makes a good, quick pasta salad, and it's even healthier if you use whole grain pasta.

It's even healthier if you don't use pasta at all.

I can't forego carbs, so I make sure they at least have fiber, and protein if possible. There are options out there with both, like Barilla pasta. They have one made with legume flour that has a good amount of protein and fiber and it tastes exactly like wheat only pasta. And they have a whole wheat pasta that's not grainy.

I've had the same lunch pretty much every day at work for 10+ years now. Grilled chicken quarter with Brown rice. Plus 3 protein shakes to snack/pre/post workout throughout the day.

I work from home so my typical go to weekday lunch is the hottie down the hall in 4C.

I like to go with the chicken salad croissant at the Cafe in the Park on Ringling and East Ave. Thanks for asking.

Usually, leftovers. I'm a pretty decent cook for being a single male so leftovers usually go over pretty well. I work outside as a builder so in the winter its usually soup (today I have leftover chicken noodle, tomorrow will be leftover beef and veggie stew). In the summer its moreso sandwiches or leftover bbq (I'm a boss on the smoker). Granola bar at around 9 am for a snack, lunch at noon and usually something sweet at around 3 pm to keep me going. I'm on my feet all day so its important to fuel up for the full ten hour day! Oh and a shit ton of water, took me a while to learn that you have to be constantly drinking water when you're working outside.

Ok, so that's the From Home "Go To", how about your "Outside,Go To", ? I love Caribbean & Jamaican. My go to is jerk pork over rice & peas. Most of the time it doubles as my dinner in the evening as well.I figure, if I gotta spend $8 bucks for lunch might as well spend it on real food versus McDonald's, $8's gets you a happy meal with faux hamburger patyy's, that greenish meat-ish, ask Maxine if thats a word?
