If it were ANY other organization in professional sports, I would just laugh this off, but, ANYTHING is possible as long as that senile old aristocrat is still calling the shots. If true, I'll bet Ford Jr. is ready to hang himself...

I bet Ford Jr is in on the deal. His populist stance is an act to make sure nobody blows up the luxury box while they are both in it. Somewhat related, I have a firm belief that Marinelli, somehow, will be retained to at least start the next season under the guise of a "fresh chance" with a new GM.

That wouldn't shock me, either. I fully expect that Mayhew will be named full time GM at season's end, anyway. We already know that "Teflon" Tommy Lewand, ass kisser extraordinaire, isn't going anywhere. It'll be status quo at the Allen Park facility, which means that this franchise is, indeed, hopelesss.

The Lions need Stafford. There is no future without a quarterback. They have no quarterback of the future. Stafford has the arm and accuracy to be a top NFL quarterback. Lions fans are so burned by the Harrington experience that they actually think that the Lions will be able to win with a crap QB like Stanton. Or that drafting Nate Davis will be the answer. Having said that, they need a left tackle too. And with the 20th pick...

Would be dumb. Good O-lines are built in the later rounds. You need 1 first round pick on them, and you've got to give gosder at least another year before you give up on him. Almost all good O-lines are built around a top flight LT and then a bunch of 3rd - 5th rounders.

I don't want to see the Lions draft anyone on offense who isn't an o lineman. I think we should use one of our first and one of our third round picks on linemen, then use all other picks on defense. We have a good young RB and a sick young WR. If we get all defensive players in this draft we can start there and build the rest as we go.

So of course they kept Millen on. That's obviously the criteria the Fords have been using for. Occasionally they'll hire somebody half-competent to tease us for a few years before pulling out the rug again.
