I have yet to own a car, but have driven a fair amount in an 08 Malibu and love it. I'm currently in South Africa for a few months for work and had to start driving on the left yesterday. Tried to get an American car but it proved impossible to find one that was automatic, available, and in budget, so I'm driving a tiny VW Polo. Hoping for not too many right turns into oncoming traffic by accident...

First car I had was sort of given to me and it was a 15 year old Ford falcon station wagon that barely ran.  64 or 65 model with 200 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine that I think only 4 cylinders fired regularly.  Kept it going for about 2 years.  Had lots of fun with it.   Wish I could find it now.

Bought it in 1986 for $1,500 on my way into college classes one morning. Showed up at home and my parents about had a heart attack cause I bought it all myself. The thing would later start blowing major smoke at start up because of oil leakage past the lifters, but still got me around pretty good. Should have never sold it to my Dad for $600 cheap cause he was out of work at the time and needed another car.

1972 VW Beetle turned into a Baha Bug. I was this 6th kid in my family to drive it. This thing would drive through a tornado and back with no problems. lol Thanks god school was only a mile away in the winter with no heat, or defrosters. I was the envy of alot of my male friends.  We would take it out to Silver Lake to run the dunes in the summer.

I got my cousins 1984 Ford escort that had 205,000 miles on it! It would start without a key and the shifter broke off so my old man rigged up a screw driver to shift from park to drive. No reverse or neutral. It was a chick magnet to say the least!!

It remains somewhere in Giant Woods state park covered in flora outside Carbondale Illionois (SIU-Saluki) as I broke an axel off roading.
