OT: What I learned yesterday
I learned that Bend, Oregon, has at least five outstanding microbrews. When you get the chance, sample any of the following:
1. Good Life Brewery
2. Worthy's
3. 10 Barrel Brewery
4. Deschutes (of course, they have been a mainstay.
5. Riverbend
Sat and watched that debacle during the Bend Oktoberfest yesterday. I didn't feel so bad at the end...

I learned that Jo Koy is significantly funnier in person than on TV. Saw him live. & laughed my butt off, just the thing I needed after yesterday's game.

That sounds like a nice way to spend a Saturday in the fall.

Pregames are now officially the best part of gameday.

That selling alcohol at the Big House is not such a bad idea. And the good stuff. Not just Bud Light. Good, very high proof liquor.

I learned
That my 5 year old daughter is pretty darn fast. Was pretty happy to see that she could out run the other girls on the soccer field.

That's cool. Saturday soccer may bring more joy in the coming weeks than any other Saturday sporting event.

That on the upper concourse on the west side of stadium you can get to the women's restroom without getting wet but that you can't get to the men'srestroom without going out into the rain.

That Dave Brandon and Brady Hoke must be feeling pretty desperate because they sent those kids who this is all about back out on to the field after cooling down for over 2 hours for a game that they had little chance to win.
September 21st, 2014 at 12:45 PM ^
That they only sell women's T-shirts at the volleyball game.
September 21st, 2014 at 7:12 PM ^
Really?! No snacks? No drinks? Brandon is missing an easy money making opportunity.

Have been to Bend many time for climbing (I'm from Issaquah). Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale is my go-to beer. Black Butte Porter is also solid.

Turned onto it when I lived in Eugene. Still buy it when I can find it.

I was in Issaquah a few years ago, visited Issaquah brewing company, Rogue was putting in a brewery. Jak's steakhouse was great and Joker pub was a great place to watch football.

That some leftover chicken, a leftover baked potato, some vegetables and some Knorr chicken stock makes for some right tasty chicken soup.
Oh, and my soul is destined to be crushed by fealty to Michigan football.

So...win some, lose some?

If there were a notable non-football thing to mention here, I did learn that when the wind on the street blows in the right direction, my neighbor's smoker makes the entire neighborhood smell like pork and it is fantastic. He even brought some over to share before the game, and it helped blunt the effects of the beer for a time.

I don't think I'm your neighbor but a few of us on the site are huge BBQ fans and cook frequently. Consider it a standing invitation to stop by.

TIL that Michigan fans are sick and tired or being sick and tired.

I am starting to think Rodriguez is trolling us.... That game winning play last night for arizona jog any memories of days past?
You know, when we could score points.... even if the defense did suck. Maybe if he was allowed to bring in high caliber defensive coordinators..... Ok, done being hypothetical
Arizona 4-0
Michigan .... season over.
September 21st, 2014 at 3:18 PM ^
He has his "high caliber" defensive coordinator at Arizona. Jeff Casteel is DC here ... the same DC everyone claimed would have been the saving grace at Michigan.

I have this weird feeling that RR would have never allowed gardner to take all the hits that Hoke has put him through, same with funchess... and I really can't imagine we would have suffered the first shutout in 30 years under RR... even if it went up as a L... At least RR could beat ND.
September 21st, 2014 at 3:20 PM ^
Gardner would have been better suited in RR's offense ... hence RR's recruitment of him.
He would have run the ball more and taken hits as the ball carrier, but I think that's something Gardner would expect and prepare for. Unlike getting hammered in the pocket from a DE coming out of nowhere.

I am glad I missed the game. I was watching my son play soccer. It is sad for Michigan football, but my son scored more goals than what Michigan scored points. (3 games 11 goals)

Oregon has to be a great state to live in. Both my wife and I have family who live there and it is always a treat to visit. The microbreweries are a bonus. It is the only state I have been to where the scenery has a weird way of making the rain tolerable. Also the coffee is to die for. Seems strange that it is considered one of the most depressed states in the country.

It is in high supply in Denver. I always drink that or upslope, though I think it is pretentious that upslope lists "snowmelt" as one of their ingredients
