OT - What better way to sell a 3-D TV?
Panasonic is apparently going to be pushing discounts on their new 3-D TVs. And which picture is being used in the Wall Street Journal story's lead-off? Well, there is really no better way to sell a 3-D TV than to show the public how great the fabled winged-helmets will look.

Edit to the edit: I think it works now...
Saw the Panasonic sale though on engadget. Still $3k for a 50" TV blu-ray player and glasses is a bit steep.
is going to be that high for a 3-D TV. For example, Samsung is incorporating it as a base feature for most, if not all, of their new model series (my pops bought a Samsung LCD 7 months ago, and it has some input for a 3D module, maybe for an infrared device to sync with shutter glasses). I wouldn't be surprised if will be incorporated into a settop box or blu-ray player so that it will work on legacy tvs. I believe the technology consists of outputting a left-eye frame followed by a right-eye frame (or vice-versa) every 1/60th of a second (i.e., one frame every 1/120th of a second), so that any 120 Hz TV should be able to handle it. The other requirement is syncing with shutter glasses, which could be done by an external device (such as an STB).

Thank you for solving my lack of tech skills... :^)
The brilliance of your Diary postings is more than enough to make up for any lack of tech skills.....
Two ways:
1. Porn
2. Actual programming available for the TV.
i think some things are left better not in 3D or even HD, i dont need to see each Herp or Wart hair
I'm not saying I'd buy for that either, but wasn't porn a major driver in the HD movement?
