OT - Valenti rant ND/MSU - 2006

Submitted by sheepman on

Have any of you heard the Mike Valenti freak out on the ND MSU game from 2006? It was on 24/7 sports today and I have never heard anything like this. I mean, I love football, I freak out, I refresh more times per day than I want to admit - but this is unhealthy.

If you haven't heard it before, goodness, give it a listen. and you can't stop listening. It is like some crazy mess of a trainwreck that just sucks you into and leaves you dumbfounded.

Chris Childers (I think it was him) said that it was everything he wanted to be and that he could only dream of being like this (or something to that effect). Can anyone enlighten me as to why he would want to be like that? Is it just the passion of the game every announcer wants to achieve?

....when I heard it as it was going out live.  I was driving over the Rouge River Bridge on I-75 south on my way back to the office from a meeting in Detroit, and I almost had to pull over from the amount of hysterical schadenfreude I was experiencing. Having watched the game that Saturday with  my jaw on the floor during the 4th quarter, this might have been the only time I nearly felt sorry for Mike Valenti - that was, after all, an epic collapse.

Would I be a bad person if I said that I have been looking all week for someone who's a Notre Dame fan that unleashed a complete venomous rant similar to what Valenti did in '06. I mean, what happened last Saturday night was just about on even ground with what MSU did five years ago, what with choking away a late 4th quarter double digit lead and all.

I remember tuning into the radio show on line at work, hearing it live, and being absolutely shocked at what I was hearing.  I have it downloaded to my iTunes and I listen to it every year before MSU/ND game -- as I will tomorrow when cheering for ND to beat Sparty.  Absolute classic.

i just listened to it for the first time recently....so hilarious. i love when he questions offensive play calling in a monsoon/hurricane katrina. i cant stand valenti (his twitter feed makes me wanna die) but i find foster funny, especially in this.
