yes. We need either Costa Rica or Mexico to win. If that happens we play Australia in a play-in game. If we lose and both Costa Rica and Mexico win then it doesn't matter we claim the 3rd spot. If we lose and both Panama and Honduras wins, then it is no WC for the US.

If both win, the US is out.
If one wins, the US plays home-and-home against Australia and the winner is in.
If neither wins, the US is in.

And it was barely enough. Even with three goals tonight, they only have 19 goals in 18 games in CONMEBOL qualifying. They'll probably be a seeded team in Russia, but might be a group I'd want to get drawn into (along with Russia's group, since they'll be one of the worst teams there).

I dunno. Maybe it's poetic justice. I missed almost the entire first half before I found a slightly sketchy website with a decent live stream. If FIFA doesn't have the brains to make a game of this importance available in the US, they deserve to lose the US market. Having the Americans crash out of the World Cup would be one way to do that.

Rights to all WC qualifying matches, everywhere in the world, are owned by the host federation. BeIN bought the US broadcasting rights from all the federations but the US and Mexico.
