Game underway and Smyly looks pretty good for his first start. I think we'll need the bats to get going in this game though.
yes plz
Without fail, in every Open Thread, someone asks for a link. It's not hard.
Step 1: stop being lazy
Step 2: go to firstrowsports.eu or vipbox.tv
Step 3: choose your sport and find a link!
I'm sorry some of us aren't as smart as you are. Or some of us have better shit to do then troll the e-webz looking for sports links. Life we haz it

With how many open threads for games lately there have been, you would have to work to avoid seeing people who had already posted them
If you're doing nothing, how do you know when you're finished?
I don't spend a lot of time on MGo, so I have no idea what's been posted. Plus I run a Linux box and firstrow sports will only work with WINE and I refuse to use WINE. Windows == the devil.

I use Ubuntu and frequently watch nba games on firstrow. Occasionally links won't work due to a missing plugin or whathaveyou, but for the most part, I haven't had a problem. If you don't run Ubuntu, this may not be helpful but you might want to consider giving firstrow another shot.
That first inning was nerve-wracking but Smyly seemed to settle down pretty well.
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
Yeah, he was struggling to throw strikes in that first inning, but it looks like it was nerves. Since that inning, and aside from Pena's home run, he's been good.
And how about Cabby fielding that (albeit terrible) bunt and making the throw on the run?
Yay, Tigers open thread. These seem to work in the exact opposite manner as liveblogs.

Smyly got out of the 4th with 86 pitches. Crazy to think Verlander was in the 9th with as many yesterday.

Smyly's not looking half bad for his ML debut. Wicked slider he's got.
Smyly is throwing a lot of pitches to get these outs. He looks like he has the stuff to be a good pitcher in the future but he definitely needs to settle down.
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
Good outting for Smyly. He made me Smile!

Smyly wasn't spectacular, but he wasn't terrible today. It would have been nice to see him get through the 5th, but I'm not disappointed that he didn't. He had low walk rates last year, so I wouldn't expect to see him walk as many batters as he did. I'm chalking it up to nerves. Despite that, he only allowed 1 run and still struck out 4. Definitely a good starting point to build on.
Now, it's about time for our bats to wake up.
I wonder if Tigers win today or Leyland blows it
I love that the idiots who blamed Leyland for pulling Verlander opening day are the same idiots who are blaming him for leaving Verlander in yesterday.
Can't win with those troglodytes.
Both were the right calls by the skipper.

Big time hit by Andy Dirks
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
Dirks making his case to stay on the big-league roster! 1-1 in the 5th.
You don't see that every day.
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
Reward Dirks' extra effort...
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
He could really use a 2-out hit with a guy on 3rd for a confidence boost at the plate.

THERE YA GO!! Great hit... way to make them pay for those shifts!

That was the exact same swing on a very similar pitch from his last at-bat. The only difference is that in his previous at-bat, the left-fielder was able to get to it. That's a really good sign though, when he's taking those pitches on the outer half to the opposite field. He'll come around eventually.
Happy birthday Boesch!

Also, the commentary before the hit was tremendous. Go shopping at The Gap for a birthday 2-run double.
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
Good Job by the Rays to get Young at second.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we acquire Dotel to pitch the 7th inning?
Pena was surprised because the Rays SS is never positioned where Peralta was
Raburn got lucky. And he still sucks. But I'll take it.
I'll take it from Raburn, I was worried about a dp
