Forgot all about this game. Cmon Fernando

This is an odd game compared to the 6-5 7-5 earlier in the series.

2 down, 1 to go (knocks on wood again)

YESSSSSSS! at least we got 1 win in the series

It's unfortunate that we only won 1 of 4 games, but it actually isn't that bad. Besides the fact that we got jacked in the Porcello start, at least the other 2 AL Central contenders sucked.
KC taking 2 of 3 from Twins, who would have thought that? And Carl Pavano continues to prove that he is effective only against the Tigers.
Seattle taking 2 of 3 from the Sox, unexpected but great news. In fact they should have swept had Aardsma not blown the save in game 2. Against Alex Ramirez of all people.
I believe the Twins play Cleveland and the Sox travel to Oakland for 3 games, two of which are against Gino Gonzalez and Anderson, who are both surprisingly not too shabby.
We get KC, but have Wash, Jack, and Armando going. I'll gladly take 2 of 3. Armando pitched well against KC last time but Zumaya did his thing and we lost. Unless Washburn can take care of business against Greinke.

Washburn's first quality start for the Tigs

Galarraga is making Porcello's next scheduled start (Sunday) and Porcello is pitching on Tuesday (vs. the Mariners).

Or you could say the Sox should have taken 2 out of 3 but for a perfect Ichiro throw to the plate as well as Podsednik falling asleep at third and getting picked off. These buts and ifs work both ways.
The results are what they are.

You are correct sir. What's your outlook on your upcoming series with Oakland?
August 13th, 2009 at 6:39 PM ^
They ought to win two out of three, but given the way the Sox tend to play up or down to the level of the competition, who knows, particularly since they haven't faced Cahill before. They haven't faced Gonzalez before but he's from the Sox system and I'm pretty sure they've seen him in spring training. If they're patient in that game they'll get to him.
Anderson's the best pitcher they'll see in the series and he's matched up against Contreras, so if the Sox pull of the win in that one they should be in good shape to take 2 of 3 or get the sweep.

Podsednik is awful. If Rios does not replace him in CF and instead takes bats away from Dye, Quentin, etc. then that pick up does nothing for them this season.

The White Sox say that Podsednik is their team MVP. He is their only real leadoff man and has done a good job.

It irritates the hell out of me how inconsistent Rodney is, but his stats look pretty good in SV opportunities...
August 13th, 2009 at 4:35 PM ^
His stats may be only pretty good in save opportunities but his results are excellent
August 13th, 2009 at 4:30 PM ^
I'll take it. Schedule isn't too bad from here on out.

Not too sure how accurate it was but Verlander registered 100 mph today twice in the eighth inning according to the Fenway pitch counter. The entire section I was sitting in was in awe. Heck of a game.

BoSux only have a 0.5 lead over Texas in the wild card, which is where they are headed this weekend I believe.
