OT: Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters died
Something happened in South America last night, but not a lot of details have been shared. Dead at 50.

As a kid, I must say the "Everlong" video, with his drumming, made me want to learn the drums.
RIP one hell of a musician

Been playing since 95 I can’t play that song. Good luck lol rip to a legend
It's actually Dave Grohl playing drums in that first studio recording of Everlong, although Taylor Hawkins is definitely in the video- Dave recorded Everlong (and a good chunk of The Sound and Shape) on his own, multi-tasking most of the instrumental parts, while the Foo Fighters lineup was still kind of in flux.
That's not to take away anything from Hawkins' abilities (check out any live video of Everlong, that drum part is HARD)- he was a fantastic drummer and an incredible musician. On top of that, I never met him, but he always seemed to have such an infectiously joyous personality. Anyone who can be Dave Grohl's best friend is a good dude in my book. This one really stings.
Album is Colour and the Shape. Didn't know Grohl did the drumming on that album but it doesn't surprise me. Thanks for the factoid. That was the soundtrack of my youth. Crushed to hear about this loss.
Durrr, thanks for catching my goof on the album title, my mistake.
A heartbreaking loss. Taylor was an incredible drummer, championed everything Rock n Roll and by all accounts, by both mutual friends and others that knew him, a great person and friend.
My heart goes out to his friends, his family and Dave, whom I can only imagine the profound emptiness and sadness he is feeling, yet again.
Foo Fighters music is not my jam but I randomly read The Storyteller by David Grohl on a ski trip and it gave me a tremendous appreciation for The Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins. Hawkins seemed like a good person and a great dude in general.
Heartbroken for Dave, they were as close as any 2 band members I can think of that weren’t a couple.
I went to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert that Foo Fighters opened for I believe in the late 90s. Growing up in the 90s like most kids I was a Nirvana fan. I knew some Foo Fighters songs but hadn’t become a huge fan yet. I have never left a concert with a feeling like I had after that show, knowing they were better than RHCP (who were massive at the time) and were going to become the next great rock band.
A lot people will see this news and not realize just how big they have become. Every show they play outside of the US is like a Woodstock event. IMO the best rock band of this generation by far. Hope they can continue but it won’t be the same.
