OT: Taulia Tagovailoa in transfer portal

Submitted by Broken Brilliance on May 9th, 2020 at 5:55 PM

He is a quarterback who can play football from what I gather. In case you didn't know, his brother also played quarterback for the University of Alabama football team.

I have not watched his tape but there is a Gattis connection if M were interested.

Not sure his belt wielding father is an ethical fit for Michigan, but feel free to state your opinion or provide any insight below.

I always wonder why more kids don't just take the bagman's cash and say "thanks very much" and sign with another team, à la Eric Dickerson with the gold Trans Am (or "Trans A&M" as SMU coach Ray Meyer called it in my favorite 30-for-30 "Pony Exce$$"). What are they gonna do?

"HEY NCAA, WE BRIBED THAT KID AND HE'S NOT HONORING THE BRIBE!"

We have enough QB'S now. Besides, he probably won't qualify being he's been home schooling himself.

Tired of QB transfer talks. Every QB that pops into the portal is not someone Michigan should look at. We have good QB's who have proven as much or (IMO) more than he has. We have a 5 star commit. No thanks OP.

Though I don’t want a transfer to come in, Tualia has three more completions than Milton on one more throw. What have either proven? If they take an Alabama transfer, I am not going to cry even if I like the QB room. He has to sit out a year and he won’t play if either guy on the roster lights it up. And if people want to rely solely on JJ working out, they should really look at the last eight years for for top 15 qbs from each class. Hint: many 5 stars fail.

This place is so weird - it gets super worked up over backups QBs on the roster but also fetishize transfer QBs who couldn't play elsewhere.  And the assumption is always that the coaches messed up with the current guys so maybe this new guy will, what, not listen to the coaches and somehow maintain/get better regardless?

Michigan has a number of quality QBs on the roster.  Let's see how they look before chasing every mediocre option out there.

“The RIGHT transfer QB” pretty significantly key word in there...

kicking the tires on transfers is a great idea, especially to add depth at a position of need. QB is not really a position of need right now.

We spent 2 seasons with the same QB. Honestly, if Shea is closer to 80% successful in his read option, as opposed to, probably, less than 50%, last season looks a whole lot different. If we see in a year or two that neither McCafferey nor Milton can make these reads, or anyone else who steps in, then I’d be happy to attack the transfer market for all the QBs. But that’s doubtful and would also suggest coaching issues. Really just ready to see what DCaf and Milton can do

My guess is that he transfers somewhere in Florida to be closer to Tua (pure speculation). The family is very close from the little that I've read. After Tua graduated high school, the entire family moved to Alabama from Hawaii to be close. I'm sure Alabama has it's charm, I haven't spent much time there, but I don't think you move from Honolulu to Alabaster, Alabama just for a change of pace.

If Milton/McCaffrey aren't good enough he won't fix it...we don't need anyone elses trash, Bama or not
