Well, I thought he was pretty neutral, but since he took over Twitter it seems the more liberal people hate him more. So, that makes me think people think he leans conservative?  :)  Who knows really. I could not care less about people's personal views. They are always entitled to their opinion. I just think Elon's companies (not counting Twitter... kind of glad he's tanking that cesspool) push the envelope of innovation and move us forward technologically. Personal views of him aside. Just thought accusing him of racism was an interesting take.

Yea. I mean he had all his success coming out of the the Bay area in the tech space, which is a very liberal area.  He infused new life into the electric car movement to help mitigate the risks of climate change, which is also a very liberal area.  I could go on, but I guess I don't care either way.  I've never judged someone's character on who they vote for.

I'm not sure what Elon is politically.  I think he's just a narcissist.  He arguably is one of the coolest people ever in founding Pay Pal, SpaceX, Tesla, [the solar roof company], the Boring company and OpenAI.  It's hard to say exactly what he founded and what he didn't since he has a history of buying the founding title in pre-existing companies.  He was actually hilarious on SNL and was on his way to being the new Steve Jobs/Bill Gates (billionaire who everyone worships as a genius), but I think the anti-nepo/ anti-billionaire thing has worked against him.   I think he's recently taken up the conservative mantle, or at least ultra-conservative rabble-rousing (own the libs) because those poeple are crazy and will give him the "love" that he is looking for as a narcissist.   I think he was previously looking for the same "love" from the left with all of the green energy stuff, but it's hard to be a well-liked as a billionaire on the left.  (Those people are crazy as well.)

I have a friend that works for Tesla and it is my understanding that they all think he is a crazy person.

Landing the rockets upright is a good idea and the software/control to do it reliably is really a monumental accomplishment.

But in a world where we operated space shuttles for decades, I don't know how you can credit SpaceX for making reusable rockets happen.  Certainly they've streamlined it, but it's not a new idea or a thing we've never done (mostly) successfully.

The Shuttle system took more than a year and a few $Billion dollars to refurbish between launches, which was definitely not the goal.  Falcon 9 boosters take a few weeks (for whatever cost, nowhere close to 7 figures), and the Super Heavy is designed to fly 2-3 times each day.

The Shuttle was a great system, but it took too much $$$ to keep flying it.

I hate Musk and hope he goes bankrupt and we never have to hear from him again.

I also want SpaceX to succeed and for another company to develop a legitimate alternative so I can cheer for them.

I realize that these things are contradictory and dgaf. Best case is Musk sells SpaceX, which I know he would never do, he would sell everything else first to hold onto SpaceX.
