OT - Solar Eclipse plans

Submitted by MGoGrendel on
Any plans for viewing the Great American Solar Eclipse tomorrow? Oregon wakes up to a black sun as they are the first to see it. Here in GA we are seeing about 99.5% eclipse. So, we headed north to TN to be in the "path of totality". Should be interesting as it get very dark and the temperature drops quite a bit. My buddy went out to KS and it looks like they will be under a cloudy sky. What are your plans?

Which is in the path of totality. I'm going to my kids' school, where we will have a picnic and view the eclipse with special glasses on to view safely. Nashville is experiencing eclipse frenzy right now, so it's against the law not to participate.

I live in Oregon and will be viewing Totality with my friend Petey and some coworkers.  I have been told there will be vodka, whiskey, various eclipse themed beers, mimosas, bloody mary’s, breakfast casserole, brisket, pasta salad, $40 in guacamole, and an abyss we are going to gather around to watch.

Just arrived in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Staying with my daughter, a Corvette engineer.  Planning on touring the Corvette Plant in the morning, then catching the eclipse in the parking lot of the plant when she sneaks out.

I get to spend my time during the eclipse helping supervise hundreds of high school students. We're in one of the best viewing areas in the country (western Kentucky) and decided to make it a learning event instead of taking the day off like most everyone else in the region.  While I think that's kind of cool, I'd much rather be grilling out at the lake than hoping my kids don't do anything too stupid.
