Reservations aren't available for the Chop House any longer.

Some of the "deals" aren't really deals at all. Don't go to a restaurant just because it's "restaurant week" -- scope out for the good ones!
For example, Weber's has a 4 course meal for $28/person. That ain't bad at all!
I seem to recall the Original Cottage Inn dinner meals are pretty decent too.

No lines, free tacos.

Restaurant week is Jan 26-30 and Feb 2-6.
I recommend The Stand, Toast, and Hyde Park. All were great.

For a more formal dining experience.
Sad that some of my old hangouts have closed, however. Still enjoy walking the dog downtown Birmingham when we visit my folks.

has changed a lot over the past few years. I guess that's just the nature of the beast in the restaurant business. It has to be hard to maintain long term success, especially when rents are super high.
Good to know about the Rugby. I usually avoid restuarants in hotels, but I'll give it a go.

The real estate market contributed.
I spent a crapton of money at Midtown Cafe (near the financial advisor/new watch store near the theatre on Old Woodward). The owners of the building sold it.

A bit off the radar since it's not downtown is Bigalora. $28 and you get two apps, two pizza or pasta entrees, and two gelatos for dessert. Also they have a killer draft beer list (40 taps) and as much booze as I've seen on one wall. Went last night during dinner time and there was plenty of space at the bar.

I noticed a new name, for me at least, on the list of participating restaurants: Jamaican Jerk Pit. I called for reservations and they said they are out of you!

They have my favorite hamburger in Ann Arbor. The place is run by the head chef and sources much of the ingredients locally. The truffle fries are awesome too.

Agreed entirely. People bemoaned the closing of "the best burger in town" two summers ago (Blimpy's) but I'll take a JPBurger *any day*.
