PerESPN.com
Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has won his appeal of an indefinite suspension and has been reinstated to the NFL, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Rice is now eligible to sign with any NFL team.

...it will be interesting to see if Rice finds a team for a postseason run. If he's blackballed like Tebow was...or if he's really just not that good anymore.

*MODS - Feel free to lock this thread from the beginning...just sharing the "breaking news."*

EDIT #1: Janay Rice shares her account of that night in Atlantic City, and everything since.

Name a team that needs a running back and doesn't want to pay a very high price for one... That's where he's likely to go...if he goes anywhere. Reinstatement doesn't necessarily equal re-employment.

Let's not pretend that the NFL was all rainbows and unicorns before this. I will put good money on that more than a handful of NFL Hall of Fame inductee's are also spouse, and child abusers.

but sometimes as I see people argue on here I often think about things like that. I'd also bet the farm that someone in the media that railed against Rice is guilty of it to the same (or worse) degree. That's obvious, IMO. I also think and would bet (if a betting man) that there are abusers here and they have spoken against it in their anonymity. Was it Shakespeare that wrote "the officer that has the strongest need to lash the whore also has the strongest desire to use her"? I'm sure I butchered that but you get the gist. Many times you find those that come out strongest against an action are directly guilty/affiliated with it. Homophobic bullies tend to have something to hide be it deed or feelings, etc. When I'd seen many on here in person it was shockingly cool as the image you have in you head of posters rarely fits. Most seemed decent enough but the good & bad of anonymity is the ability to be whatever you want to be or avoid. Not defending Rice, I've just had this same thought many times over the years. Too many here act too perfect but the history in that is the very fact that they have such a rep on an anonymous website/forum. That alone says something about certain people, IMO.

To have a criminal record means that someone would have had to been accused, caught, and charged with the crime. There are a lot of abusers out there that don't have to hide because they have yet to be accused. It is actually very sickening to think sometimes about how many possible physical, and sexual abusers that you have shaken hands with or befriended.

I doubt anyone will sign him this year or next, but I suspect he'll play again. I also like that the NFL was shown up a bit here, given how terribly they handled the whole thing and then tried to cover it up with messy PR.

Someone will take a chance on him next year when the media storm has died down a bit and people feel he has served his time. As far as this year, no way anyone wants to deal with that
