OT: Pujols 2000 RBI

Submitted by Craptain Crunch on May 11th, 2019 at 9:56 AM

I did a MGOBLOG expert search and only Pujols hits and homers had topics so my apologies if there is an OT topic on this that I missed. I blame the near beer I drank last night for giving me this hangover.  The DUDE just hit a serious milestone by driving in his 2000th RBI two nights ago. I've been following Pujols' career since his rookie year and, man, was he fun to watch while with the Cardinals. While he has battled injuries, he still is producing. He's a class act on and off the field. Harbaugh should have him be an honorary game captain this season.

Btw, Pujols reached 2000 Ribbis on a home run.

Pujols, Miggy, and Manny Ramirez are the best pure hitters I’ve seen in my lifetime. An honor to have been able to watch all of them (even when Miggy was routinely slaughtering my Indians).

One of my first dates with my now wife was a Braves - Cardinals game at Turner Field.  I remember as we were walking down to our seats in a light rain, Pujols hit the most towering home run I’ve ever seen.  I still remember the sound of the hit and the “oooh” from the crowd.

Not sure why I can’t embed a tweet but the Detroit News is reporting that the guy that caught the ball has decided to give it to Pujols for free.  He just wanted to sleep on it and thought the Tigers staff was too aggressive while trying to negotiate for the ball at the game.

From the story referenced above:

He made a comment in The Detroit News article Thursday about his love of Hebrew National hot dogs, and Hebrew National was so appreciative, it is sending him a summer's supply of dogs, plus other swag, including a company softball-team jersey.

OK, now that's really cool that Hebrew National is giving him free stuff just for the mention.

I also googled this guy, just cause I was interested in where he was going to law school. Turns out there was a gofundme page for his son who passed away. Gave me a lot more sympathy for this guy and his situation. And let him do whatever he wants with this ball.

It's a shame that a completely washed Pujols has spent the last two-plus years as a living embodiment of the sunk cost fallacy.

Because his first dozen years in the league were no-doubt, 1st Ballot HOF-caliber.
