OT: Owner of Pronto Pup in Grand Haven accidentally posts insane facebook rant on company page, then deletes his company's facebook [LOCKED]

Submitted by MichCali on July 14th, 2020 at 10:56 AM

Link to owner's insane rant where he goes over some interesting topics such as murdering George Soros, painting a "White Lives Matter" mural outside his store, and his guilt for failing to pull a gun on a customer years ago who he suspected of taking a kidnapping victim to get some corndogs.

The business deleted the rant and posted this apology before just deleting their Facebook last night.

Hours later, the Facebook page came back up with this statement.  Full dumpster-fire mode.

Reminder that the Grand Rapids location is not affiliated with the Grand Haven one.  Also, reminder that corndogs are terrible.

I wonder if OP will post a link to the insane "I'm glad she's dead" comments for the murdered Jessica Doty Whitaker.

Robf, this is a political post from a political poster.  Unless you want a litany of "Somebody said something stupid somewhere in America, this is why my political party should win" posts up and down the sidebar, you should take this shit off the board.

My favorite part was when he wrote Thanks Hitler in all caps because he was mad at the media... pretty entertaining to see someone completely break down in a completely senseless rant so publicly, and get totally screwed over because of it. Doesn’t matter if it was on the left or right, fucking hilarious

Meh, I personally don’t mind at this point. There are no sports to talk about for the foreseeable future, and this at least has a (State of) Michigan connection. I learn a lot of OT news on this site that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Like did you hear that Grant from Mythbusters just died of a brain aneurism? Fucking sad shit. But I guess I didn’t read that on the blog, so maybe I’m negating my point... but, yeah, no sports for a sports blog

No I didn't hear about that, but yeah that would be my point.  Would you want that on the board?  My wife keeps telling me about an actress that died in a lake saving her 4 year old, which is the saddest shit I can't even think about.  Does that go up as a topic?  It can't, come on. Even if there are no sports being played, this isn't 'nam as the man says.

No idea what this is.  Is it related to the Pronto Pup owner?  I didn't see any comments regarding this in the post.  I assumed the girl the crazy owner was talking about was Jessica Heeringa, not the Jessica you mention.

This is a weird ad hom.  This has nothing to do with a specific political party (his crazy is all over the place in this rant with the anti-religion and anti-police stuff).  More to do with an owner of a local Michigan establishment going absolutely insane and trying to run his business in the ground.  Pronto Pup is a really well-known and beloved place for many in West Michigan and has been mentioned many times on this board, so I thought it was relevant.

I don't know what to tell you, dude.  You're whining about me being a "political poster" but when I click on your profile, like 90% of your comments are raging about politics, Trump, COVID, masks, etc.  Not sure if you have something against me personally, or just have a complete lack of self-awareness to see your hypocrisy in your complaints here.

Maybe just give it a rest for a while.

"People of both parties like to gather themselves into their group, create false caricatures of others by twisting their positions into easily refuted but untrue concepts that lack nuance, check to see if the tribe is behind them (twitter/facebook/mgoblog likes and upvotes), then point and laugh at the "other" as way to make themselves feel supreme over them."

I rage against both political parties.  If I mention Trump it likely includes the fact that I dislike him intensely.  COVD and masks are meaningful topics in today's America.

I don't dislike you, I just think you're misguided (as many are today), in that you are exactly the prototype of the above.

Yep he did nothing but post about politics for forever and now nearly everyone of his posts is about political tribalism and how damaging it is and on and on and on repeating the same stuff over and over and adding nothing to it.

I agree with this.  I'm not sure the point of having a post like this up.  When a new executive order is issued or something like that is relevant to everybody occurs, I can understand having a thread about that but this kind of post is completely useless and sows division.  Additionally, this guy went completely over the top and he is likely going to pay the price at the cash register, that being said this kind of post reinforces the "cancel culture" wherein somebodies entire existence can effectively be "wiped away" due to one really bad decision, not even a crime, just a statement.  It is a rotten feature of our culture right now and should not be reinforced.

He threatens to kill people AND thanks Adolf Hitler in his rant.  I honestly don't think this is a right side vs left side issue here.  Much like DeSean Jackson's insanity, EVERYONE should be condemning this idiot.

I don't see how this should sow any political division.  He threatened to kill someone.  Why is this a political issue?

Perhaps I should have read the whole thing.  It was just written in nearly invisible font and my eyes were in tremendous pain.

I still don't think it is helpful to just completely throw this guy away based on one social media post.

Dude, this isn't him accidentally liking a porn tweet from the corporate account.  He went full racism, anti-semitism, QAnon type conspiracy theories, lunatic rant and then threw in the improbable tax churches thrown in for good measure.

Yea, Bodog's hypocrisy is blatant here.  Clicked on his profile and nearly every single one of his old comments is political.

He is allowed to talk politics, he just doesn't like it when other people do the same.

I'm glad you know that I believe political partisanship is one of the worst problems this country has, and that the energy and zeal behind them is tribalism.  People of both parties like to gather themselves into their group, create false caricatures of the other side by twisting this positions into easily refuted but untrue concepts that lack nuance, check to see if the tribe is behind them (twitter/facebook/mgoblog likes and upvotes), then point and laugh at the "other" as way to make themselves feel supreme over them.

Ignore the upvotes and downvotes here, they don't matter.  It just means there's more of one tribe in here on mgoblog than the other.  Look at the idea, and free yourself.

Yikes.  Come down off that cross, ya big martyr.

The downvotes you're getting aren't due to political party or tribalism, they are due to you being absolutely insufferable.  You're basically being "that guy" at a party.  Just lacking in self-awareness and being a complete asshole screeching about stupid shit, then painting yourself as a victim and being oppressed when you're kicked out of the party (in this instance, getting just a couple downvotes).

People here don't dislike you for your political views, they dislike you for your personality and preachiness.

You need to go to some parties with people who don't think like you.  They're a lot more fun.  The world would be a really boring place if everyone was just like you (meant in the generic sense).

Honestly dude, I don't disagree with most of what you have to say, but your pretentious self-aggrandizing is incredibly annoying. You act as if your self-discovery that politics and political parties are built around tribalism is some revolutionary notion that you have a monopoly on. Furthermore, you chastise others for engaging in sophomoric behavior, the irony being that pointing out potential partisanship or hypocrisy is an incredibly easy thing to do. You use it as a defense to suggest that you are above the fray and can see "clearly", but when you are forced to actually engage in a discussion about substance, your arguments are devoid of the nuance you claim others lack (see your position on CDC/Fauci "flip-flopping" on masks). I appreciate your desire to call a spade a spade, but a little self-awareness and humility might do some good.

I don't claim to be original in my thinking.  But just because a thought has been held previously, i.e. political parties are shit and should be tossed away, doesn't mean it shouldn't be continually revisited until it's been put in place.

I don't understand about Fauci/CDC.  My point was that masks are necessary, but it's understandable that people would be confused, given how Fauci/CDC/USG all said they were completely unnecessary early in COVD.  I don't see a political angle in criticizing what should be the foremost scientists in the world on this topic, for not knowing the correct answer at the outset.  They knew that masks did not protect the wearer, but did not know that masks protect others from the wearer?  That's a total failure of science.  I believe that is the nuance, where the partisan takes are either "masks are for bitches" or "Wear. A. Mask."

If you agree with a lot of what I say, please voice it more.  Say that political parties are dumb on both sides, and let's talk about the ideas that matter.

If I sound like a prick, that's probably because I often am.

If we all agree that they're problematic, why do't we do away with them?  Just because a problem is obvious doesn't mean it's not a problem that should be addressed.  I don't pretend this is an original idea, but I do rail against it continuing to be ignored.

"We all know it's a problem, geez enough already."  I agree with the first part of that, but not the second.  Let's get on with the dispensing of them.  A big part of that lies in the fact that people tie their persona to their party, they don't want to be wrong, and they don't want to be tribeless.  Let's all agree that we were all wrong, we don't need tribes (or we can have them for silly things like football teams), and we can make decisions for the greater good.  Yes this sounds like I just read my first sociology book in high school, but what does it say about us that we continue with this status quo?

People don't want to give it up, not primarily because of what they believe on issues, but because of the power over others that they believe it will give them.

Yep getting rid of them is just that easy right? As if it's not completely entrenched in this country. Here while we are just getting rid of things that at this point are impossible to get rid of, let's just stop all crime, cancer, covid19 and the losing streak to osu as well.

If I’ve learned anything these past few months, it’s that there are 2 types of mgoposters. Those who watch absolutely no media because it’s all biased and they have their own Informed opinions and those who watch precisely equal amounts of Fox and CNN and then form their own informed opinions.

Both types are above the political fray and are just trying to wake up the sheeple so everyone can be on their higher plane.
