OT - Obama's Olympic Wager
I don't care what your opinion of Obama is, this is pretty legit. I think it's safe to say he loves himself some beer.

that the President couldn't bet a case of Oly.
Yep.
Sounds like his doctors think he loves his beer a little bit too much....
The doctors also recommended "moderation of alcohol intake".

begins and ends with this one.
You're a chick?
they both get your hopes up, and then just let you down.
Both of you.
Yuengling vs. Molson is not really a fair trade. He was getting hosed either way.
...when you make a bet with PM of all Hosers, eh?
I think the main reason behind the Yuengling is because it is the oldest beer brewed in America. Frankly, I've got no problem with it either, and don't get enough of it in AA.
...I should hope you aren't getting enough Yuengling.
Molson tastes as bad as that Nicorette the President is pounding on.
is not very good.
and I hate Molson.
Edit: In case some of you Americans aren't aware, that is the Molson slogan (I AM CANADIAN) and the guy who says it on the commercial is almost yelling it. I'm not yelling at you, just making fun of their stupid commercial.
Sounds preferable to the last two guys. As long as he isn't trading booger sugar with El Jefe de Colombia I view it as a positive.
fact that the prime minister wanted a case of molson canadian a little cliche... there are so many other good canadian beers that he could have gone with...
Labatt blue > Molson
Don't believe me?
http://ca.askmen.com/top_10/entertainment_300/301c_top_10_list.html
bar/sports complex in windsor molson was our 4th most sold beer on average(order being: coors light(coors is brewed by molson in canada), blue, blue lt, molson canadian/bud)... there were months that bud out sold it... when we had hockey tournies molson would sponser them... so it meant we could only have molson products in our beer fridge... for that entire weekend we might have gone through 10 cases of canadian... but we would go through 40 to 50 cases of coors light...
And I'll back that up with the Toronto guys I knew. All were huge Coors Light fans.
but my favorite Canadian Beer is Alexander Keiths.
That they would vote La Fin Du Monde that low automatically disqualifies that survey in my mind. I also think it depends on what area of Canada you're in. Everyone I knew in Vancouver drank Molson any day over Lablatt. Most of the people I met in central Ontario/London preferred LaBlatt.
Honestly, I prefer Molson over Lablatt (both way behind La Fin Du Monde). And that's domestic, not export. For some reason, any Molson or Lablatt I buy in the US just tastes horrible.
Agree wholeheartedly on La Fin du Monde. Pretty much anything from Unibroue should be ranked higher than everything else on that list.
I also agree that any Labatt or Molson bought in the States isn't as good as what can be gotten in Canada.
Went and got a 4 pack of La Fin Du Monde to drink away that survey tonight.
I think the beer choice had to do with being the oldest brewery in each country. Both are the oldest.
My neighbor bet me before the Olympics that I would see tap dancing, tattooed, fiddle playing canuks with mohawks, giant inflatable moose and William Shatner...Boy was I a sucker!!!!
By "fiddle playing canuk" did you mean Batman? I'm pretty sure that was Batman.
I agree with on A Good Beer Blog this one. They got the whole bet format wrong.
Shouldn't Obama have to consume the Canadian beer as part of his losing the bet? Isn't the whole point, after a Canadian win, to have the President of the United States say "you know... I was thinking... I wasn't going... to like... this Canadian beer... but I gotta say... it's not... that bad."
IMO Molson > Labatt Blue
The fact that Yuengling isn't distributed in Michigan is a crime against humanity.
I mean, we have Bell's and all, but still...
Clearly Chairman Steve must hate Barack Obama thinking that if he lost he would mock the President by making him drink Canadian. Regionally...a small sample you mgobloggers should try north of the border...
East Coast - India Pale Ale (Alexander Keith)
Quebec - La Fin du Monde (Unibroue)
Ontario - Mill Street Coffee Porter (Mill Street)
Ontario - Dead Elephant Ale (Railway City)
Alberta - Grasshopper (Big Rock)
on keiths... by far my favorite IPA but its a tap beer and should only be drank that way... another good east cost beer is moosehead... but nothing comes close to labatt 50...
Alexander Keith is a great IPA, and as said above, great on tap. I've had it in bottles, and it was alright. Not quite the same though.
Now if I could just head up and try the rest...
Based on what we saw of Harper during the Olympics, he might want to cut down on his beer intake. The dude's carrying a spare tire.
There is a reason he only shows his face in all his photo shoots. That gut is really out there.
...is wrong with you people?
What about Moosehead, Canada's largest remaining CANADIAN-owned brewery?
Any beer approved by Marty McFly that I can get for $2/bottle down the street on Saturday night must be good!
