OT: Miguel Cabrera Just hit #2999
He's 3 - 3 tonight vs the Yankees. Should have one more chance tonight for #3k.
Gosh Dang I love that man.
The limited Tiger crowd is totally into the game! Go Miggy! Go Tigers!!
he was the 'ted williams' of his era. long past his prime now, but still a pretty good hitter. i wonder about a guy like that being a hitting coach.

Assuming he retires above .300 (which is a near certainty), he'll be only the third player in baseball history to do so along with 500 home runs and 3,000 hits.
The others? Hank Aaron and Willie Mays.
That's some pretty impressive company.
One more double and he will be the third player with 3k hits, 500 hr and 600 doubles. Aaron and Pujols.
If he retires with a +.300 average it will be only Miggy and Aaron with 3k hits, 500 hr, 600 doubles and +.300 average.
Not to shabby.
This guy from MLB the Show has way more hits than that!
If he has a chance to win the game on a walk off I'll cheer for him to get it tonight, otherwise I'll root for him to not get 3000 until tomorrow when I'll be at the game.
Miggy will be leading off the bottom of the 8th
In my opinion, this is the greatest non-Gordie Howe career statistical achievement in Detroit professional sports history.

Barry Sanders' 15,269 rushing yards say hi.
Barry Sanders was great to watch and put up amazing numbers. His career stats are great as is but could have been the best in Detroit sports history if he had played 4-5 more seasons.

Ty Cobb had a lot of base hits, and I remember when Al Kaline hit his 3,000th. Miggy’s back to back MVPs and 2012 Triple Crown (the first since Yaz) is pretty special, though.

You told us this one already, Grandpa.

Listen gramps, you’re repeating yourself again! Time for a warm glass of milk and bed!
But, but, I haven't told you about the onions I used to wear on my belt or about how the Metric System is the tool of the Devil.
Tork should have stepped on the bag before throwing home.
Let's face it. You can't Tork'em out of anything!
On your feet lads, it's Miggy time
I thought he hit a .2999 in 2011 on his way home from the bar?
This is a bigger fail than the pop add for toe fungus.

I think your advertising algorithm is trying to tell you something.

Just saw the highlights on MLB Netwrok. One hit was and infield single the old man legged out. Another was a broken bat single.
They all look like line drives on a score sheet!

It's a 1 pm game Thursday, so it's "Sneak Your Transistor Radio to Work Day" tomorrow.
And for the out-of-state fans outside the Tigers TV/radio coverage area, you can be certain both ESPN and the MLB Network will break in to cover every at bat until he gets #3000.
BTW, Miggy has another milestone he's striving for: he needs one more double to make it an even 600 for his career.

Seems almost a certainty that if he hits a double next, he'd be the first to get to 3000 hits and 600 doubles on the same hit.
