Surprised the reviews are mixed. This looks like a shockingly awful trade. Please someone convince me otherwise (and no, Drake will not do the trick).

Quinn and Patricia are in way over their heads. Sucks for Lions fans  that one guy has no clue of how to build a roster and the other guy, the supposed defensive genius, thinks rushing 3 is a recipe for success in the league. Kirk Cousins routinely grades out as elite level from a clean pocket and Capt Pencil proceeds to give him all day to throw.

Do you really feel like the Lions' roster isn't light years better than when Quinn was hired.  There is way more talent on the roster than when he took over.  The jury may be out on Patricia still, but Quinn has landed a ton of talent.  I'd still like to see Patricia get one more year after this for two reasons.

1) injuries on the Dline have been brutal

2) the division is ridiculous this year, and even though this has been played out, the GB game should've been a win.

*still a lot of season to go, but those are my thoughts as of now.  As far as this trade, you still have to wait to see what Quinn does in the future. They may like the young safeties better for the system.

It is a weak roster, and he has spent how long putting it together? Ok I'm a Niners fan and comparing the Lions to them since they currently have the best record in the conference from that defense I would take Slay and Snacks and that is it. Of the offense I'd take Stafford over Jimmy and both of your receivers over whom I have playing now. And John Lynch took over a worse roster and has been assembling it in a shorter time frame.

The last two Super Bowls say a lot about Pencil's ability as a defensive mastermind. I'm deeply unimpressed, this after we fired a coach the players loved, who somehow averaged nine wins with this trash franchise. And that pencil is so freaking stupid. He should try getting some exercise by throwing it away.

We have no pass rushing right now.  That's not necessarily a Patricia issue as much as a personnel issue.  Sure he could blitz his ass off but this is the NFL and with the number of weapons the Vikings had, that means someone very good is going to be open or have 1v1 coverage.

Nobody is going to be Bill Belichick so stop trying to compare people to him.

They should trade more and tank. Bengals should too. Neither team is going anywhere, why not make it interesting and take a chance on getting a generational talent.

When I saw Diggs in the headline on ESPN all I could think was Carl and Stefon. I never heard of this quadrilateral dude.

Only rationale I see is because his salary doubles starting next season. But they gave him that raise and extension, so that seems.....odd. Would have liked more than a 5th rounder in return. I think the biggest negative could be in the locker room. Based on reactions, he was well loved by the players.

He takes over $10 million through 2021 off the cap (about 1mil this year, 5mil the next two) and has been thoroughly mediocre this year.

Also, we might not be trading guys if Slay had played and tipped the balance in some close games.  Stop missing multiple games every year and see what happens.

Trust in Quinn! Lions have improved a lot under him. Many criticized the decision to draft Hockenson, and look how well he's played. Lions finally look like they're trending up this season.

I really don't get what the big outrage is about. Diggs is not good. You would have a hard time proving he is even average. Detroit fans have never been very openly supportive of his play in the past but all of a sudden once he gets traded  and we have 75% of the fanbase acting like Quinn traded Stafford or something

He is the best we had at the position though, no?  If he was starting, that means he was the best we had.  He may not be good, but now we are worse.  And we gave up a starter for a 5th round draft pick?

At face value, this trade seems like shit if your a lions fan.

He was starting at the beginning of the season but Will Harris has been getting better and better every week.  Harris also has five inches on Diggs and is better in coverage which is what Patricia requires out of his safeties the most.  I agree that they should have gotten at least a 4th rounder for Diggs but very few teams were interested in a 5'9" safety who has been playing poorly as of late.  At least they got something for him.

Also he was not the best safety on the roster.  Tracy Walker had already surpassed him while having 2 fewer years experience in the league.

This just has all the makings of somebody needing to take a fall for that abysmal effort by the Lions defense last Sunday. Unfortunately the two most responsible parties for that effort would be the guy who assembled that lackluster group of talent, and the guy who is coaching it. The more that things change in Lions town, the more that they stay the same.

I am fine with the trade. save 2 million on the books this year, and his contract was like 13 million for 2020 and 2021, if he made the roster both years . plus you drafted Will Harris in the 3rd round and need to see what the kid has. Play Walker and Harris and see what you got. at a fraction of the cost of Diggs. Take the 5th and run especially the way this team been giving up yardage. He would of been a Cap cut for sure next season.

Lions fans overrate Lions players. Diggs wasn’t good. Dumping him is fine. Still no confidence in this GM. 2 of the best 3 players on this roster were take by him and the rest of the roster lacks Pro Bowlers or competent depth.
