OT- Ira at WTKA
Yep. He's still f%#^ing talking about it. Now he's reading a new email. Tuesdays from 9-10 are apparently say something douchy and then argue with listeners day.
Does anybody else feel my pain?

I have to stand up for Ira (not that he needs my help). While I do agree with the consensus that Sam is a better radio personality, Ira complements him very well. Together they are better than either one separately. In addition, Ira is the program director which is a huge responsibility; I'm quite impressed he can keep the plates spinning and run the show when needed.
As far as the incident discussed here, I don't really take much offense given what I've heard. Any long time fan of the Lions understands how snake bit that organization is and has always been. Sure Ira can at times get up too long on a soapbox which is easy when you control the airwaves. Perhaps a character flaw, but that's who he is. I have never doubted his enthusiasm for or allegiance to Michigan.

Ira seems like a good guy, but he irritates me. I live in Grand Rapids, and every Thursday I look forward to listening to the podcast of the MGO roundtable. Ira will ask a question to Brian and Craig and then answer the question himself and ramble on and on, and not let Brian or Craig actually answer the question. He forgets no one actually cares about his opionion, but are more interested in the guests opinion, because you know thats what they're for. I hope Sam is back from leave this week because I can hardly stand him over the last two weeks.

Maybe he has a self inflated notion of himself. Who knows? To be sure he knows stats and the usual sports mantra's (which are boring in and of themselves), but his analysis and opinion compared to Brian's or Craig Ross's or Sam's just does not compare. And aggravatingly and confoundingly, when those guys are on, he interupts and talks over them and their point is lost. Result is very poor radio. As someone stated above, it is not listenable.

Get on the air and do it then. If it's that simple, do it. If you think being a radio talk show host is easy, you're mistaken. We think it looks easy as liseners because all we hear is their talking, but there is a lot more involved than that. There is show prep, which takes hours sometimes, doing live reads for advertisers, producing the show, and I'm sure several other responsibilities.

Ira just doesn't have a great speaking voice or on air personality. I know he is a true Michigan fan, and he sounds like a decent person, but I've just never been a big fan of his.

Listening to WTKA without Sam is like having White Castles with just mustard and not ketchup or vice versa. You have to have them mixed in into orange which makes it good.
