OT: Hotel Room for OSU

Submitted by rs207200 on November 18th, 2019 at 1:26 PM

Just checking if anyone has an extra room that they’re planning on releasing back to the hotel chain. My wife surprised me with tickets for my birthday and I’m now looking for a hotel.

apologies if this type of post is not allowed; if so I will delete.

Good luck, pal. Any hotel within a 5-10 mile radius of town (maybe more) is going to be booked solid. I know with the Bell Tower, for example, if you don't call the first day you can reserve rooms for the OSU game, like a year or two in advance, they're all booked up by the end of that day. If you're coming from out of town, you may honestly have better luck staying at the Westin at the airport.

Other than that, I'd say try AirBnB. I just checked it out and there are places available in town. You'd just better be ready to shell out some money. Most places were in the $350-$500 range per night. In some cases, even more.

The game is at noon. Get a room anywhere within 60 miles (Toledo comes to mind) and drive up that morning.  You'll have plenty of time to wander around before the game.

There is still availability although you should book right away.

What's your budget per night?

It is possible right now, especially if you are willing to get creative with the dates.  if you just search for the Friday night you will find rooms of $700-1000 or sold out.  If you plug in Thursday and Friday, via cursory Expedia search properties are available for $150-250/nightly so $300-500 for two nights.  The catch is, if you weren't planning on being in town Thanksgiving night, you could ask a friend to check in for you and either hold the keys, or get new keys on arrival.

Staybridge Suites is showing $200/night, very convenient location, breakfast, parking.  New hotel, your wife would likely enjoy.

Holiday Inn on Boardwalk, $185/night for 2 nights.  It's right across the street from the pricier Sheraton ($249/nt).  Both near Briarwood, easy Uber or walk to the stadium if not too cold.

Exact same hotel shows sold out if I change the date to Friday night only.

The Even by Briarwood has space (was the Holiday Inn Express until a couple weeks ago) per the IHG app.  I stayed there during renovations for the ND game and the Iowa game.  They offer a shuttle, but I took and Uber.  It's also only about a 45 minute walk to the stadium.

Also, Holiday Inn up by North Campus is available per the same IHG app.  I had originally booked that room but got a room at the League (!)  off the waiting list a few weeks ago.

Both of these places were under $300.

Good luck and Go Blue!

I used to stay on Ford Road in Canton. Not a bad drive and rooms were always under $100. A few places to eat there and of course, The Rusty Nail.

Have fun. #GoBlue!

Holiday Inn Express on Zeeb Rd in Ann Arbor still has room. We just stayed there this past Friday night for the MSU game. Nice place. Enjoy the game!

I believe that noon on Thursday is when sites like hotels.com release back the Friday nights. Get on the hotel chain’s own website at noon and there might be something available.
