OT: Game 6
I've been reading the DetNews, watching the local sports shows, and other various media outlets...and it seems everyone is picking the penguins to win game 6. I hear stuff like home ice, crowd, boards, back against the wall...etc. I guess I'm surprised that no one is really picking the wings to have a chance. What is your take?
Well the Wings have struggled on the road in this series.
Well the Wings have struggled on the road in this series.
I've lost all hope...
Wings take it tomorrow.
Wings win it 3-2 on a late Franzen goal.
.... the "everyone" cliche.
I completely disagree with you.
ESPN is picking the Wings.
So am I.
Detroit 4-2.
better question is can the penguins win in the joe? because if the answer is no (which i think it is) then tonight's game doesn't matter (except for stress relief for wings fans)
Well the Wings have struggled on the road in this series.
Wings have struggled on the road, their penalty kill has been atrocious on the road, and it seems that the Pens crowd keeps them in it when the momentum shifts to the Wings for parts of the game.
That being said, I think Wings win it in Pittsburgh just like last year. They will win tomorrow 4-1. Hossa will get a goal and Datsyuk will play a big role in the Wings win.
I truly believe that Datsyuks return was huge for the Wings. It brought them back to life. They didn't seem "tired" like most suggested they were in Game 4, and they moved the puck much better on the PP. Without Pavel I think the Wings were in deep trouble to lose this series.
Hossa take a victory lap around the Pittsburgh ice.
I was listening to 97.1 yesterday and they were discussing who Lidstrom should hand the Cup to first. The consensus was that it should be Hossa first and Conklin second.
I think having Datsyuk back in the lineup was a HUGE boost for the Wings in game 5 and I don't see how it will be any different this time around. I'm also kind of hoping Fleury is still rattled from the shelling he took in game 5. He was out of position a lot and unless he somehow transforms into the MAF from last years game 5, it will be the Wings in 6.
Then I am traveling to Arkansas for a job interview on Friday so we really really need to win it Tuesday. I had an internship in Buffalo NY last summer and I will be pretty upset if I have to watch and celebrate by myself again. Anyone who is in the Little Rock area might have to give me some pointers on where I can watch it.
Also anyone hear anything about Joe Vision?
I was celebrating in Buffalo last year, so that makes two of us. I guess my wife (fiance at the time) kind of was, too, since the Sabres didn't even make the playoffs (she comes over to our side when the Sabres become irrelevant).
What's Joe Vision?
In the past you could pay $5 or so to watch the game on the Jumbotron at Joe Louis Arena with ticket sales going to charity or something.
Apparently the outdoor viewing at the Igloo is canceled for game 6 as well.

I still think the Pens take game 6. So far everything, but the score, has come out how I thought it would. But in order for the Pens to have a chance, they have to get back to Penguins hockey. Play like they were doing to get to this point. The Pens showed their young age in period 4 of game 5. They can't let the officials get to them. If the officials don't make the call, you can't retaliate and get caught yourself. I'm taking the Pens 4-2 in game 6 with the last goal being an empty netter.
"So far everything, but the score, has come out how I thought it would."
But other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
Pavel. Datsyuk. Good. Hockey player.
No sugarcoat.
because I'm going to Pittsburgh in about a month to stay with some people who are huge Pens fans. Also, I'm going to a Pirates game and I want to wear my "Beat Pittsburgh...again" shirt that I just bought yesterday.
Our defensemen REALLY need to stop turning over the puck.
