OT: The Friday "What are you up to?" Posbang Thread

Submitted by profitgoblue on

Its that time again.  Time for a good Friday posbang!

What are you all up to today?  Have you found a way to avoid being productive on this sunny Friday?  Are you doing anything interesting this weekend?

Me, I'm sitting here at my desk as usual, trying not to get carpal tunnel syndrome as I hammer out document after document.  Howard Stern is talking in the background, providing another distraction to get me through the day, which includes me trying very hard to keep my composure with a lawyer for Comerica about language in a document.  Who would have thought a mid-sized bank like Comerica would be so difficult to deal with!?

As for this weekend, I have a nice little Saturday planned.  Going to take my oldest to a gourmet breakfast at IHOP and then hit the storage unit to move crap out of our house so we can put it on the market.  (You'd be amazed at the amount of kids sh-t that you accumulate in just four years.)  Maybe I'll cut the grass too.  Not sure.  Not sure if I'll have enough time.

(For all you Battlefield 3 players out there:  Have you purchased the Premium add-on yet?  Any thoughts on the new weapons?  For you PS3ers, I set up a new platoon called "MGoBlog" (clan name "MGo") if any of you want to join.  I'm playing under a different PSN these days so friend me up.  I'm still playing late-night so if any of you are up late playing too lets squad up.)

[EDIT:  Almost forgot to upvote my own thread . . . Done.]

Which means putting out little figuative fires. First we ran out of a test fluid, then a test machine can't do what we need it to, so I have to try to talk to Germany about how to make things work... but Germans have gone home for the day.

I get to call another Big 3 supplier today to figure out why they're going to go back to older tech rather than just tweak a calibration.. hooray car companies! None of them want to be the first to use new stuff.

Oh, I've also got a 6 mile run tomorrow morning. Really debating if agreeing to do a half marathon this fall was a good idea....

It was a good idea. Stick with it! My wife just ran the Cleveland Half a few weeks ago. The training sucked, but I know she felt rewarded for it. One of these days, I'll whip my lazy butt into shape and run one, too.

Embrace the suck!

I was in Cleveland for my buddy's CWRU Law graduation the day of the Marathon.  I'm not sure what the morning was like, but by the time I got up there from Cbus it was murderously hot.  So, congrats to your wife on getting through - heat wipes me out.

For my part, I ran the 26.2 in Detroit last October but fractured a metatarsal in the process, so I'm still working my way back and currently trying to convince myself I should sign up for the BTN Big10K in Chicago at the end of July.

I've been having a little problem with them lately. Apparently, we're putting the new cover letter on all TPS reports before they go out. I'm going to try to remember to do that from now on.

My sister's graduation party is today, a future wolverine.  Following in my footsteps and I couldn't be prouder.  Going to be some good food and I'm providing the beverages, it should be a good time for all(even if im one of the few allowed to get buzzed).

Just waisted 3 minutes of my life reading some thread about some government nuclear accident cover-up military operation conspiracy.  Now it's on to patients and consults.  On call this weekend, but hoping to go out to dinner tonight and to the zoo later this weekend with the kid.  Also hoping to break in a new babysitter.

Reviewing a mountain of sales tax returns, which is very exciting.  Tomorrow I'll be playing a round of golf while my fiance is at her wedding shower.  Playing a drinking version of Cards Against Humanity tonight hopefully.  If you haven't played that game and aren't easily offended, I would highly recommend it.

Sitting at work (read: not working as hard as I should be) and thinking about my trip to Deutschland at the beginning of July.  Particularly thinking about how many rauchbiers I'm going to drink when I visit Schlenkerla in Bamberg.

I am working on a departmental operating manual, but am trying to find every reason I can to avoid actually working on it.  I've completed one before and it was a pain in the ass.

My boss and their boss are both out of the office, so I'm planning my escape.  My fiancee is throwing registry chores at me for her bridal shower in August - wall sconces, blender, and a wok....exciting shit.  Another beautiful weekend in Raleigh so pool and beer tomorrow and Durham Bulls/Mud Hens game on Sunday.

I just posted a bunch of photos (to facebook) of a trip I took earlier this month with a friend, so I am obsessively checking for updates as comments from our mutual buddies roll in.

It was a "moving back home to Chicago from CA" trip, so it is many photos of stops along I-80.  Not that scenic.  I

'm not ready to post my facebook page to mgoblog because once you guys figure out I am David Brandon's mailman's cat's veterinarian's babysitter, the jig is up.

Finishing up the cutouts and painting the control panel for the electric brewery I'm building. Then drinking homebrew. Fishing tomorrow and Sunday.

Wife and kids return from India Monday, so I should probably get the drill press off of the kitchen table as well.
